    I don't really listen to music anymore (weird, I know) but when I did it was primarily obscure foreign heavy metal bands. So, all of them.

    Step 1: Log-in to Clutchfans for first time in however many months.
    Step 2: See a fun music thread in the Hangout after being too depressed about rooting for a WWE-type sport to read anything in GARM
    Step 3: See the saddest ****ing human being I've ever associated with make a dick of himself in said thread pining about not being able to call someone the R-word and not get an obvious joke about someone not hearing of RHCP or Nirvana
    Step 4: Log-out and remind myself in 6 months to find something better to do than be reminded the saddest ****ing human being I've ever associated with is still the saddest ****ing human being ever.

    I don't think I listen to any music that is obscure enough that NOBODY has ever heard of it. I never really was into a local live music scene, so pretty much everything I discovered through the Internet or (back in the day) music magazines...so obviously someone had heard it before me.

    That being said, most of the stuff I like is from artists who are not famous for reasons I can't quite explain. For instance, this morning I was listening to Teenage Fanclub on my drive to work, and all I can think of is why these guys weren't more popular. It's like the most perfect, unique blend of Beach Boys catchy harmonies/melodies with 90s alternative rock. No one really even came close to doing it as well.

    They were definitely more popular in the UK than the US, but still not really a household name. SPIN infamously even rated their second album Bandwagonesque as the best album of 1991 over Nevermind, but that was pretty much what they were most known for.

    Anyway, I was going to post this in the What are You Listening to Thread this morning, but figure I may as well post it here.







    Another 90s band I've really got into recently is Duster. I read online about how their old albums were going upwards of $200 online, and are pretty hard to find. Apparently, over the years the band had developed an intense cult following pretty much under the radar. Last month they released a box set that reissued all of their previous output. It's good.

    Nice choice, I looked for their SNL performance on YT but couldn't find it; IIRC they played 2 short songs for each slot, so 4 songs that night!!

    My choices would be; the Boo Radleys and Levitation. Both English bands from the 90's, they are 2 bands that pushed boundaries of what experimental 'pop' music could be.

    Got to see them more than a few times; 92 opening for Sugar @ Vatican, 94 @ Lollapalooza, 95 @Glastonbury and 97 opening for Better than Ezra @ Vatican.

    I saw them in Houston/Austin somewhere a couple or 3 times in the 90's but my memory is not nearly as good as yours.

    Used to listen the crap out of these guys, never met anybody who'd ever heard of them or was the slightest bit interested:







    Don't do enough drugs to really listen to them that much anymore.
