Condemn what? I don't think NYT and the cartoonist was trying to be anti-Semitic. The NYT apologized for their mistake of not realizing how this cartoon would be taken. Here's the JPOST on the cartoonist: https://www.jpost.com/Diaspora/Cart...o-Post-I-have-nothing-against-the-Jews-588291 Here's Israeli firing back at the NYT:
Uh, no, they literally apologized for publishing an antisemitic cartoon. Not for "how the cartoon would be taken." This is what they wrote: "“We are deeply sorry for the publication of an antisemitic political cartoon last Thursday in the print edition of The New York Times that circulates outside of the United States,”
I haven't sifted through the archives of Der Sturmer lately but I imagine in their 22 years of publication that they or similar publications caricatured plenty of individual Jews of note. Caricaturing the head of the Jewish state and showing him leading the President of the United States around as his toady while prominently featuring the star of David and a Kippah would have been right up their alley.
Yeah, you have to figure that once the publisher of the cartoon classified it as anti semitic, that would be the end of trying to figure out its intent.
Well clearly you know more about this incident than my quick google glance. I didn't realize this was the International NYT who decided to publish this Portuguese cartoonist's work.
I am surprised that those on the right aren't crying about political correctness and playing the race card. I guess it's ok for them to attack minorities that aren't Jews.
Dehumanizing is a complaint some may have but unsurprisingly posters who complain about Trump dehumanizing violent illegals as animals are OK with their side comparing a man to a heeled subserviant animal. And actually I think Israel should have Trump on a leash but OK. Overall provacative BS cause the NY Times is struggling to maintain relevance in the modern world and it definitely is not saying Jews are dogs. The right is using the same punches the left is and in no way is it productive. However certain posters here have no right to complain or get upset when they are guilty of the same tactic.
Not antisemetic at all. It does not say all jews. It is a charactature of a political figure and they know damn well it isnt representing jews. Israel isnt even a theocracy and far from being representative of Jews.
Literally the entity that published it called it anti-Semitic and apologized. And you are in here telling us it's not anti-Semitic? You cannot make this stuff up people.
