Take Eric out of the starting lineup and insert House in? Solves the rebounding woes and matches the athelectics of AI, who has been a pain in the azz so far. House off the bench has been awful. He needs to play alongside James to shine. Eric off bench can bring the scoring punch we need for the second unit. Bench scoring has been flat so far.
Gamble? Not sure House can make shots.GS led by 9 points 1st quarter both games. Allow them to lead by 15 points? .
The big lineup change to consider is going bigger. Nene and Faried have given us positive minutes this series. Turnovers aside, offensive rebounds and second chance points were the difference in this game.
Starting House while he's in a funk? I can't defend that. Plus you still have an undersized Tucker at the 4. What we should've done awhile back is move Tucker down to the 3 and start Faried at the 4. Clark can backup the 4 and House backups up the 3. In a limited sample, these rotations where Capela or Nene was with Faried were pretty incredible.
There's only one thing we can try i think, play more small ball and use Clark some minutes, maybe see who plays better between him and House and roll with that. If we can't find a way to make the pick & roll work with James and Clint, at least we could try to space the floor, not sure there's much to lose at this point...or maybe save this for game 4 in case we're down 0-3.
My heart cringes when I see CP has to get up to fight for the board or Tucker is going after against Draymond. Man, they have KD Steph and Klay. Small ball, I feel, is to play into their hands
Eh, i feel you, but they play small regardless of what we do so...if the pick & roll is just not there and Harden can't get to the basket by taking advantage of Draymond staying with Clint, i'm not really sure what's the point of playing with a big man...our offense is worse and on defense they take Clint out on the perimeter anyway. In the end i think we should (or should've at this point) also keep our expectations in check, cause the truth is also that pick & roll working or not, going small or not, they are simply a more talented team, they have two MVP caliber players in their prime (we have one), they have four all star caliber players in their prime (we have two, with one past his prime)...i mean, we're really good, just not as good as them. If we're going to lose this series nobody should be surprised, especially considering the Warriors got game 1 gifted.
Awfully tough from this point on, surprised no one has started a thread declaring we have to pretty much beat them in the next 4 games in a row to win the series
I agree... small ball doesnt have the beef to box out or rebound... They'd miss a shot and somebody would just come flying in for the rebound and put back... At times it looked like a college team up against pros.... and we need some hard fouls... KD was just having a walk in the park....
Do we really want to mess with Gordon's rhythm? If Paul is not giving us much on offense and still turning it over, then I would actually like to see him guarding Curry. Might bring us some value there at least. But Gordon has been our best scorer and has admirably guarded Mitchell and Curry. I would rather start Nene. They are not giving Capela the lob space nor are they giving Harden the floater, so if our C is grounded I'd rather it be someone who can create a shot at that position when the ball slows down or comes to him.
I would Like to see the Rockets run a big Line up of Faried, PJ and Clint just to secure rebounds. Faried guarded KD well enough Harden is playing his extra old man game and has frozen every one out of scoring with his methodical way he is playing with the starting lineup. Might as well have guys that can rebound if Harden isn't giving up the ball to EG I think EG would be fine coming off the bench. Rockets lost these games because no one could secure a rebound. Giving up shooting to rebound I think would be a good trade off.
Curry just walked past Faried a couple of times. I would be terrified if we were starting Faried. Start Nene. In a game where no one is giving up open shots inside, Nene is a plus and far less of a defensive problem than Faried.
Put EG as a 6th Man, put Faried back in and let CP handle the offense and Harden play off a catch. Play semizone like utah did with Capela NOT ON THE PERIMETER and switch things outside the paint. I guarantee it will look way better.
This. Gordon comes off the bench, but still plays starters minutes. Manimal starts at the 4 and plays about 25 min. PJ starts at the 3; moves over to the 4 when Manimal’s out. Increase Nene’s minutes off the bench. Actually might want to consider going to Nene more in the post. That’s pretty much our best chance to deny GS 2nd chance opportunities, while increasing our own. We are not going to beat GS by outshooting them. We have to beat them with defense and controlling the boards.
Warriors terminates Houston outer and center connections. You can see capela cannot get many scores. They double team Gordon, Harden and Cp3. Warriors gets 22 points for Houston mistakes and get many offensive rebounds. Last year, Ariza defense Durrant, we had Tucker protect the rim. After Ariza left, we use Tucker to guard Durrant. Houston needs to start Faried at 4. He can protect the rim to get more offensive rebounds. His field goal percentage is good. Put back Gordon to bench will get more good result. If MDA does not make this change, Houston does not have any hope to win
We don't play Faried without Pj. The reason being is our defensive communication depends on PJ.This way we have a good rebounder with an on ball defender and it loosens that pick and roll on the other end.
