The league actually provides 48-minute reports to each individual team about the refereeing. These are like the last two-minute reports but for the entire game. You only get them for your team, not other teams. The Rockets requested them and have been poring over them starting with last year's WCF. That's what this report they sent to the league is based on. Now, I'm sure that the Rockets are also going over all sorts of other sources of data and video they've acquired and analyzed themselves to bolster their argument.

The "shocking" thing here is that all that data got released right after Game 1. A team actually put it out there and called the league on it. I'm sure other teams do this sort of analysis to some degree, but Morey did it properly, and then played his hand. Either it was leaked it right after the game to the Athletic or maybe even before the game. (I'm presuming it was a thinly-veiled leak.) I bet this was planned way in advance, and it was just a matter of having the right source of ignition, which Game 1 certainly provided. It's brilliant, I think. Everyone's been talking about the reffing since the game.

Cuban sort of went off in a rant on a twitter thread. But looks like other teams have presented similar data to the NBA, just not publicly

I've shared this privately , in one form or another, with the NBA since I've been in the league. Thisbisbthe first time I've shared in publicly. The sad part is that many teams, have shown data similar to that provided by @dmorey https://t.co/iAgv91S8Y8
— Mark Cuban (@mcuban) April 30, 2019

What was said was the Rockets were gathering ref data on their own across all the game and compiling tendencies for each ref. This ref will call more reach ins, this one more over the backs etc. and provided that data to their players. Once the league found out they ordered the Rockets to stop.

Good. Morey just was the one with the stones to finally prick the bubble that one could reasonably deduce was growing behind the scenes. I'm sure other teams are glad it was him, too, because I'm sure they have no doubt that when Morey says something, he's got the ironclad data to substantiate it. He makes it a low risk to come out of the woodwork and back him up.

nope. fake news to get clicks. exactly the kind of stuff the "black adam schefter" puts out to troll and you have people believing all of it. general rule of thumb if you're not posting something that's verified, it isn't something that's likely to be credible.

there is no tweet or source. the only thing morey did was repost an article about kerr complaining about the refs. He has not said one word to be quoted

Wow. That’s dumb. Maybe they should also put limits on how much game film players can watch of their opponents?

Teams should have every right to study and gather info on all factors that can impact a game and inform their players accordingly.

it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know if something like that was said the millions of media around the world would of caught it instantly.

yet you think some random troll twitter account caught it. come on now. don't be so gullible. any sort of material like that would be reported on verified credible outlets easily.

He has NUMBERS to support what Donaghy was saying
The NBA got off light with that but this brings it all back to the headlines
and having numbers and video to back it up . . . .. looks like a case of Law and Order

I been saying all day . . .the NBA is looking more and more like WrestleMania
less like a competitive sport

I agree which is why is frustrating the league preaches transparency but does very little to back that up.

- Teams cannot collect data on their own
- Full 48 reports are only available if your team played in the game
- Your methodology is incorrect but does nothing to provide clarification why its wrong OR provide a better methodology
- L2M are made - then parameters are changed - then they do nothing to change the outcome of the game except "sorry we were wrong"

It is really damning towards the league.

i am not checking what millions of media around the world is saying 24/7...
but it didnt sound like morey because hes always very careful and respectful.. the tweet was probably a salty/malevolent paraphrase of that morey tweet posting the old video on how kerr reacts to bad officiating
