Friendly reminder that crooked referee Scott Foster exchanged 134 phone calls with Tim Donaghy.

while this is true, I feel like people hate the warriors more this series, and they're rooting for us as the lesser of the two evils to win.

they don't care what happens after that, they just want golden state to lose, and they realize that Houston is the biggest threat.

Worth the bump. I agree that this hasn’t gotten close to the attention it deserves.

Missed this somehow back in February. I first got interested in the San Diego Rockets because they drafted UH star Elvin Hayes, a key part of the Coogs beating UCLA in The Game of the Century. That was at the Astrodome in January of 1968, UCLA not having lost a game in one hell of a long time. The crowd of 52,000+ was the largest ever to see a college basketball game, or any basketball game at the time. Hayes went on become the #1 pick of the draft and Rookie of the Year. I was stunned when the team was sold and moved to Houston not terribly long after that season. I was a very, very happy guy, I can tell you!

    Sorry for the double post.

The Houston Rockets are the third professional basketball to be called the Rockets. Other than the San Diego Rockets (same franchise, obviously), there was the first Rockets team: the Denver Rockets of the old ABA, back in the late '60s and early '70s. They changed to the Nuggets a couple of years before the ABA merged with the NBA. Otherwise, who knows which team would have been allowed to keep the name?

They even had a dildo logo before we did:

The League didn't mind refs fixing games for them, they just didn't want refs to get high off their supply by actively betting on them.

Game 5 was a surreal moment. I could literally hear the gears grinding in the minds of the crowd and announcers wondering wtf was happening in front of their eyes.

Silver cracked open the killswitch and Order 66'd the refs. Three's didn't count, out of bounds plays were in bounds, free throws were selectively counted as momentum breakers, etc...every damn trick to kill condidence on home ****ing court.

Houstonians were too nice. If it were Boston, they would've stormed the refs to get a game cancellation and stop the rigged bullshit.

Don’t confuse incompetence with being crooked. There’s a huge difference between being terrible and doing it deliberately

I think you might've meant game 6, but the spirit of your post is true regardless.

2018's "Flagrant 1 point of emphasis against shooters being undercut" became Klay and Dray stepping under 3 point shooters easily 5-6 times for the entire world to see on national TV with no calls. Just that one type of call alone was responsible for as many 25 points in that game, I'll never forget that feeling of futility and hatred for the NBA that reminded me of Mavs vs Dwayne Wade and Kings vs Kobe.

I meant the Game 5 upset was surreal to the GS crowd, announcers, and national media.

Everything clicked for the Rockets. The Warriors were forced to stop playing their "Beautiful Basketball" or "Death Lineups"...and still lost.

G6 wasn't surreal. It was a pathetic con, and the media already had the narrative scripted.

Lest we forget, C-Webb and Reggie Miller were adamant throughout that Game 6: "HOW is that not a foul?" And then after a no-call, GS runs it back for a Thompson 3, and Miller: "That's a 6-point swing right there."

But after Game 7, the same two announcers handed their talking points: "And once again, James Harden could not get it done."

Biggest NBA travesty I've ever witnessed outside of the LA-Kings 2002 robbery.

This is why I am never going to be too hard on James Harden.

He was a dominant two way player in that series, and he was robbed. He was a better than Steph Curry during Steph Curry’s prime. Come at me Bros…
