Bolony. The Rockets play this style because their best player is incapable of playing in that style of offense. That style of offense is objectively better. It creates more varied open looks and is far less predicable to defend in a seven game series. It's a large reason why Harden usually in a 7 game series has a good game for games 1 and sometimes 2 and then becomes an innefficent chucker the rest of the series. Defenses have figured out the very predictable style. And that style still persists to a lesser degree when Harden is on the bench. CP3 also spam dribbles for more than half a possession often.
Harden has played in other styles and thrived. It should be reminded that this style you find so ugly is historically one of the most efficient offenses in NBA history
* In the regular season It is a horrible system when a team sees you 7 consecutive times and memorized every subtle nuance of your tendencies. And that efficiency gap is slowly closing also in the regular season as other teams are adopting the spam 3s method but in different ways that involve more ball movement.
I mean... I think the Warriors are now 16-1 in their last 17 playoff series. The one they lost obviously stings... but then again, that's on Draymond as much as anything. The last 9... don't know how much "extra" credit I'd give Kerr, he took a 73 win team and added KD. But there's no need to react to this and be all like "Kerr, what a horrible overrated coach!". If I remember correctly GSW lost in the first round before this run. They had these crazy good offensive players and I think were last in the league in passes. Some of that might just be Mark Jackson being a surprisingly bad offensive coach, or Draymond replacing David Lee in the starting lineup. But clearly Kerr came in and changed the game for them offensively and made them what they became. But don't take this as a "I love Kerr" or "I respect Kerr" comment. I just posted in another thread... this look from Kerr is about as offensive a thing as I've seen from a coach. Your squad literally destroyed a dude for a series and a year with the same **** move. And you've done a ****-ton of b****ing about refs in your day. And MOST relevant, if the reverse was going on, and if one of your players (eg. Steph) hurt their ankle, you'd be going ape-****... because Steve Kerr going ape-**** at the refs has happened multiple times. I think as a person he has a very entitled feel. I don't know why. I feel for him with regard to his father's death/murder. But even before coaching, just watching him on NBA TV type stuff... he gave off a bad feel to me. That's the way it goes sometimes. I think Kevin McHale is actually kind of jolly to listen to, or at least I did before he did his Rocket-bashing thing which is totally transparent now. But before he became the Rockets coach, I was a-ok with him as an announcer... he just seemed like a dude. But then he was a horrible executive and coach.
I'll gladly add a few turnovers per game for a trade off of not having 80% of our shots being contested 3s. Also those turnover numbers increase in the playoffs where the benefit of not passing as much is lost because teams can read our passing lanes and press the primary ball handler (cp3 or Harden) because they know exactly who is going to spam dribble the ball for majority of the possession in a 7 game series. Predictably increases turnovers also. The Rockets average the 4th most turnovers in the playoffs.
This guy really tried to spin the narrative that MJ punched him because he has strong character and then gained respect for him later for that scuffle... No Steve. He punched you because you are a ****boy and that's what he thinks of you
Kerr in a nutshell: - Scrub player carried to rings by HOF players (Jordan, Pippen, Duncan) - Scrub coach carried to rings by HOF players (Curry, Durant)
most good to great coaches were scrub to average players. Something about how Hof talent players don't make good coaches because they assume everyone can do what they did. I really don't know enough about Kerr's coaching nuances to determine if he's a great coach, a good coach or just mediocre.
What you don't understand is that scheme is dependent on personnel . The only reason GS gets so many easy shots is that defense's try to account for curry , klay , Durant , and green and iggy who are above average passers . We could run the exact same plays and defense's would smother it , because they don't have worry about a curry in the corner or KD as a roll man
So far this postseason per game... 1.8 3s attempted in very tight coverage @ 18.2% 10.3 3s attempted in tight coverage @ 29.0% 12.2 3s attempted considered open @ 28.8% 18.7 3s attempted considered wide open @ 44.6% Roughly 14% of all the shots we take are contested 3s. We don’t have a problem getting open shots. Currently the problem is that we aren’t shooting well enough on open 3s. During the regular season we were 35% on open looks.
