I would happily take such a game from Butler right now against the Warriors. Also, I agree not going all-out after Paul George was a HUGE MISTAKE. Even if he was a one-year rental, it would have brought us a championship.
I am not saying Butler isn't good but it was more of his weird Ego, not wanting to co-exist with younger players that drove me off. And complaining about touches. Also I am not convinced he is as good as he was with Bulls no more. Philly is essentially still an Embiid and Ben Simmons team, they go as far as those guys take them. Butler, Redick and Tobias Harris might chip in some amazing games.
Butler made those losers of the Wolves a playoff team (and without being out for weeks they would've had homecourt advantage last season), George after two years is still watching the second round at home though
Pretty sure we did, reports said we were going hard after him once we completed the trade for Chris, OKC just had better assets at the time, Oladipo (even though he wasn't as good as he is today) and Sabonis > Anderson/Gordon and pick/s...sucks, George is one of my favourite players and would've been perfect here (more than Butler, i agree), but eh...
Yeah, but he was not that good against the Rockets in that series last year. You got to deliver in the Playoffs! One 28 game and the other 4 games he averaged 12-13 ppg that is role player like. Inconsistent as hell. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/butleji01/gamelog/2018/ Paul George made his love for OKC public but should have gone to play with Lebron. At least Lebron could have made the Playoffs.
Keep in mind he just came back after the knee injury when he played us, and he was against Ariza/Gordon...
Precisely, Eric Gordon as streaky as he is, gives you the same production with more consistency and lesser problems. And for half the money or less. Probably just 2 or 3 pts less because he is not starting every game.
No way in hell Gordon is as consistent as Butler, come on man, i like Eric but that's a crazy take. Butler whether you like him or not is a top 15 player in the league.
He was averaging 18ppg on them Sixers, stars have to prove themselves over again. Gordon was averaging 16-18 ppg these two years in a system he has fun in. That is not crazy just a sign that Butler is not getting better but might decline soon enough. Ppl live in the past and remember past glories.
Bro, i couldn't disagree more here. Aside the fact that Butler is 28, two years younger than Gordon, you say people live in the past when Butler completely turned a team of scrubs and p*****s like the Wolves into a top 4 team in the West 10 months ago. Now he's scoring less cause he's playing with Embiid, Simmons, Harris and Reddick, all players that handle and shoot the ball a lot, he's not trying to be a Melo and still finds ways to win them games like tonight, that's what a great player does in my view.
Fair enough it is just my opinion, the Rox need younger defenders with longer reach. Butler cannot provide longer arms and he is demanding max contract and likely long term. Again my 2 cents and not the holy Bible. Maybe I am biased but you sound like you're his fan, gud luck. He did not impress me on the Wolves as well. I like Toby Harris a lot more. He was on the Wolves for one year and a half, had like 18.7 ppg, I will doubt his short stint turned anything around. Thibs team did okay overall that year. You are going the extra mile to sugarcoat his output. He was alrite. 8th seed is nothing to brag about, it is just serviceable.
For me it's the opposite, Butler > Harris and it's not even close, Harris is fine for me but he's a budget prime Melo, poor defender, meh passer and not exactly a high iq player...i just don't see how you can even consider him in Butler's tier tbh. But yep, no worries, maybe i'm the one being wrong, guess we'll eventually/hopefully find out if somehow Butler ends up here. As for me being a Butler fan well, i think he's a great player, but i'm not a BOF if that' swhat you mean. If i had the chance i'd take George over him, but that ship has sailed, Davis is out of our reach in terms of assets, same for Beal probably, Durant and Kawhi will not come here in any scenario so, Butler is realistically the only great player that may end up here, and i would be super ok with that, max or not max cause, yeah, i won't pay that, all i care is that he's a 3 that plays well on both sides, can create his own shot, can get to the line, can make big shots, can pass, can guard 3/4 positions, his age is the same of our franchise player which is someone he respects, he's from Houston...that's really enough for me to want him here.
Was there news that Butler said he wanted to be in Houston no matter what? Think that was Melo. Houston could make almost any star like player look good, they are that gud offensively at times.
Nope, Butler officially never said he wanted to come here or in any other team, but he's from here, he was (maybe still is) a Rockets fan, he always talks well about Harden, we had insiders saying we were after him and some of them said the Rockets know he would've resigned here (which is something i believe since they were ready to trade four 1st rounders)...i mean, there're other hints out there like Harden going to the Wolves lockeroom to check if he was ok after a injury, Butler hanging out with Melo before his trade request became public and when Melo was coming here... There's definitely a chance i'm pumping up on these things and nothing will probably happen, but all things considered i like to think there's something meaningful here.
