So, you are afraid to tell the truth and stick to it.

    I knew it.

I had an amazing time watching it with friends, but i also agree with some others here that i can't help but look at Cersei and the Iron Throne as childs play after such a build up of the Night King and his Army and winter coming over so many years. Like...that's it? I immediately told my friends, who cares about the throne now? Who cares about the cunt Cersei? Who cares about the Clegane bowl? Who cares about Bron trying to assassinate Tyrion and Jamie? It's all so small in scale and means nothing to me anymore. I'll still be glued to the tv, but so many years and 1 battle where the Night King all of a sudden turns into some cocky douche bag with his smirk and his gangsta limp as he casually strolls to his target. And don't get me started on Arya. Love her, but she's basically a Mary Sue much like Rey Skywalker. Barely any training other than as a child with a training sword and mostly solo dancing through the years, and most of her real training being of the mind and now she's like the deadliest person alive.

It felt very WWI to be honest. "Up out of the trenches you go, boys! That's it!"

Imagine reading books and not getting laid. Must be hard for you not thinking of suicide in your late 30's.

That was very well done. I think they could have had Jon "hustle" a little more given he always has a sense of urgency and knows what is at stake. But that scene would not have been shot as well as it was. He saw at least 3 or 4 people fighting including Sam who was close to dying and ignored it to try and chase down the Night King as that was the only way to win. I really wish Jon would have had a standoff with the Night King.

Would have been awesome if he told the dead dragon, "That's what I thought b****, is that all you got?"

I yelled that out too while watching. Wasted potential bad ass scenes showing them wreck ****. Seeing the terror on one of our main characters faces as he cuts through so many dead and then faced against a White Walker coming toward him. Instead they just show up at the end and walk behind the Night King like his ring entrance posse. Even the Night King was out there battling. White Walkers just posted up on their horses camping out.

My final complaint. The scene with Daenerys just sitting on Drogon, letting the dead just climb on him and stab him all over while she looks on in panic. There was plenty of time for her to take flight, but she just stayed and continued to stay until she fell off.

OH yeah, and now that the battle was over that quick, with few emotionally connected characters dying, it makes the previous episode weaker for me and it makes episode 1 just filler. Re-introductions for the sake of it. Jon unexpectedly forced to get on a dragon for the first time during the battle of winterfell would have been much more interesting to see. I feel like all that's left is 2 episodes of big time jumps and more cunty squabbling, a clegane battle, a dragon or both potentially dying, a few more characters we dont care much about dying and then a final episode of just settling things down and goodbyes and Frodo sailing away into the sunlight.

What did the NK want with Bran? Just to capture him for his seer power or to kill him outright?

But that's the point. If Jon stopped to help out every single character, the NK would have reached Bran and taken him or killed him or whatever. It was a "needs of the many > needs of the few" situation.

I think it was that the WW were overly confident. That, or the NK was, so he didn't order them to be aggressive. Why fight, yourself, when you've got a legion of peons to fight for you?

That Dany - Drogon scene also drove me nuts. Like, freakin' do something instead of letting your dragon get overcome. You already lost a dragon once - why are you about to risk losing your second?

Why did Melisandre decide to randomly die? Also, Theon's death was such a waste. If I was Theon's ghost, I'd be PISSED at Arya and would haunt her forever lol.

"Bruh, you couldn't have shown up like 20 seconds earlier? smh"

Would be super awesome if, when Theon started charging, Arya came outta nowhere to assassinate the NK.

What's the rule for spoilers on this thread?

They've gutted his character from the books. They felt the need to dumb down the male lead in order to smart up the female protagonists.

Someone mentioned that Arya snuck up on Jon in just the exact same spot (near the tree) right before they were reunited. He was surprised to be snuck up on like that. Another interesting detail is that one of the white walkers hair moves right before Arya's attack on the NK. Not sure if anyone caught that but I assume it was Arya that caused that.

The rule is dont be a dumbass and post whats gonna happen in the next episode, one hour before it shows. Youre okay.

My thought on Red Witch and her aging. I feel like shes been put on this Earth to serve one purpose and that was to play a huge hand in the Great War. Shes been in purgatory for eons and thats why she needs that necklace to keep her appearance throughout her time here, waiting on the Great War to present itself.

Like she said of Beric, 'He has finally served his role for the lord of light, now he can go', She finally was able to serve the biggest of roles for the Lord of Light, so she can finally pass and enter the Lord of Lights Heaven or what have you.

All that was missing was Dany blowing a whistle before she sat back and watched.

I can’t fault people for feeling or wanting different things. I totally get it, most have been invested in this series for several years.
I mean, anything and everything can always be improved upon. Guess I’m just going to go glass half full on this for now. Hopefully the rest of the show lives up to the hype it’s created.

I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case, I really enjoyed it and am just wise-cracking a bit. The writers are in a no-win situation and on very very thin ice for each and every scene that's been beyond the books.

Also, how rare is it for an epic show to truly go out on top? Just recently, Breaking Bad did it. Justified. Mad Men maybe? Lots of people hated the denouement (that's right, I know fancy words) of The Sopranos, Seinfeld, Deadwood, The Wire, etc....
