What did they do with the skirt steaks of all the cattle that were being raised in interior northern Mexico for hundreds of years? Look up arrachera, it's just fajitas by another name.
I've had dinner and lunch at pretty much every Tex mex and authentic Mexican restaurant in town, as both are by far my faves and I take out of town clients on the town weekly, and I'd say over 70% seek out Mexican food over BBQ. I still have not found any tacos as freaking delicious as Taqueria Los Reyes on Federal Rd @ I-10. We eat here once a week via takeout at work. $12.99 for 4 tacos is wack but once the taste hits your taste buds its completely worth it. Free salsa and Charro beans to. It may not look like it in the picture below, but they put plenty of beef in the semi crunchy but soft flour tortillas. It would be my last meal on death row. It's also very upscale. Dress appropriately.
I get paid very well to work in that area but will be moving out of state soon. Not a place I'd venture to after 8pm, but at lunch it is packed, every single day. So so delicious.
Then you're the man for this question: Have you ever run across any Michoacán restaurants in Houston. I'm hooked on one in Denver (on Federal, too...haha). Tiny little dive. But, I don't recall running across any Michoacán in Houston. If you know of one, let me know. Will be back in Houston, soon, so wanting to go check one out to compare, but a quick Google search turned up little.
I've only had that from a taco bus. I was driving back to work from a meeting and saw the place, I think off of Winkler Dr. Seems all of the good authentic places are in the hood or out of a bus. If you discover a restaurant for good Michoacán, hit me up. I'll buy and we'll order one of everything.

Karanchos on Sheldon is good too in the channelview area. There’s some amazing Yucatán style tacos In clear lake at either Habaneros (Seabrook or Kemah).
