Walked out of the movie about 30 minutes ago. I am absolutely floored. I knew it was going to be great, but didn't know how great. Whether you're a casual fan or a Marvel fanatic (or anywhere in between), go see this damn movie. Avoid spoilers. When the 5 minutes of the movie makes you feel feelings, you know the rest of the movie is going to be something special. That 96% on RT, I thought, was more nostalgia than the movie actually being that good. Boy, was I wrong. General comments for the group: Spoiler Paul Rudd got a lot of love in this movie. I know he was basically the catalyst that had to start the whole "Time Heist!" aspect, but I really like that he was highlighted. I LOVE the fact that most everyone could show off their acting chops. Especially from Tom Holland and Gwyneth Paltrow's scene with RDJ at the end. A bit surprised that Shuri barely got any lines. In fact, did she get any at all? Ditto for Drax. The "escort Carol Danvers" scene highlighting most of the women in the MCU was really well done. A minority may have felt it was too "on the nose," but I thought it was pretty freakin' epic. Questions for the group: Spoiler What was that exchange between Dr. Strange and Tony, where Strange pointed his index finger to the sky? Was that a nod to the first Avengers, like "bruh, you gotta sacrifice yourself for the good of all?" Is Thor going to be incorporated into GotG now? And/or is GotG going to be incorporated into Thor? There was a Stan Lee cameo, but apparently I missed it because I had to pee. This was around the time where Loki teleported out. What ended up happening, there? Can someone fill in the gaps?
Spoiler I didn't get the "girl power" complaint I saw from some people on Captain Marvel, but that particular scene I did think was a little over the top. It was a nod to Inifinity War though. Spoiler I took it as "hang back a second".
Spoiler it means he's going to join Luke and Obi Wan as Jedi ghosts I didn't notice it but Thor said something about working together asguardians of the galaxy Steve and Tony teleported into the deeper past and Stan Lee was a bystander inside bus? Don't remember much
Spoiler Rudd is GREAT and funny as hell. Agree that the acting was at another level in this movie. The 'lack of screen time' in this movie was because it centered around mostly the original cast, with some others thrown in (Nebula) for plot reasons. The gripe that person or group X didn't get screen time was just laughable...they could only fit so much into the movie, and most of those people were dusted until two hours in. I liked the whole Lady Avengers bit, and it's something that several of those women have been pushing for. I'd go see it. I'd love to see Thor in the 'Asguardians of the Galaxy'. The Dr. Strange throwing Iron Man the 1 finger was that it was time for the one in 14,000,601 in 1 chance. Strange was saying 'NOW' without tipping Thanos off. Stan Lee was driving a hot rod in 1970 and said something like 'Get out of the way, you hippies!'
Spoiler 1) The pointing his index finger was to let Tony know that this is the 1 in 14,000,601. 2) Seems like GotG and Thor will be connected, assuming they will now search for Gamora. 3) Stan Lee drove by the Army base and I think yelled "Move hippies or something when Cap and Iron Man went back in time My main questions: Spoiler Did Captain America go back in time and live out his life in the main time line or an alternative timeline? Because they specifically stated multiple times that people could not go back and change their own past so I assume he lived in another time line but he did not come through the portal. That part to me was very unclear.
This thread is all spoilerriffic now- I threw my theory in earlier but I'll put it in again Spoiler There's nothing in the current Marvel Movie cannon (that I could think of) that says that Peggy Carter didn't 'hide' her relationship with Steve all along..it's not like he isn't skilled or smart enough to work to make it happen, too. It might be a stretch but everyone has met someone who was married that you had no clue about for years because there were no pictures or mentions of a spouse until a casual comment one day.
Spoiler Yes, that can make sense but my problem is that any action Rogers takes will change the timeline somehow especially if he is married to Peggy Carter (an important person in the marvel universe). Plus, does this mean that Steve Rogers never met Peggy Carters niece (Sharon Carter) while he was married to Peggy? Cause otherwise Sharon made out with Steve Rogers knowing he was her uncle. Also, didn't they state multiple times in the movie that when they go back in time it would create an alternate timeline and they would not be able to go back and create paradoxes/change what happened in their universe? Because, steve rogers existing could affect when/how Peggy interacts with multitude of important characters. Maybe, I am overthinking this...
1. Doom has no powers . . only tech 2. Thanos is the Madd Titan and very much Doom's intellectual superior Rocket river
I'm interested in Nova and Surfer. A good Nova prob means a watchable Green Lantern... A cosmic crossover like annihilation or Galactus done right (f4?) would be amazing
Don’t know if you’re just basing it off the movies but Doom is pretty adept with black magic, therefore he developed powers. Regarding intellect, took Doom days to deduce and steal Surfers cosmic power while it took Thanos a week to figure it out. While Thanos certainly is a more powerful opponent, in intellect Doom’s superior, and the only variation of Thanos that can beat God Emperor Doom is HOTU Thanos.
What I knew going into the screening and I did not have to research was the Earthlings were going to make a run to even the score, get themselves back into the Series somehow. What I did not suspect or anticipate was the makers planning to do a Rebuild with older characters retiring or so. Was some kinda long term plan. Had a nostalgic touch about it. Hard to let go! Oh Marvel, a great IP. Well, Disney owned.
Spoiler Why did 5 years later we see Parker heading back to high school with same age buddy? Ant Mans daughter aged but not anyone in the spideyverse? Did all it really take was an MIT badge to gain access to the militaries highest secret? And of course Capt Marvel shows up at the very end? I know she made some reference...other planets and such but kind of a cheap way of keeping her out of the mix till the end Solid movie, through and through. Tried too hard to be a tear jerker and the multiple endings thing was annoying. /
