    Predictable and pathetic. The media goes haywire against far right hate speech where 15 people show up, aggressively censor it, blame it on Trump .. but let islamic extremism propaganda penetrate impressionable minds under ... "personal freedoms?" What is the lame excuse this time, none of the terrorist attacks whether in the US or abroad have been surprises. All hate speech, from whatever source, against any kind of people, needs to swiftly be banned and taken seriously. Whether it is an extremist muslim, a white nationalist, a minority who hates cops ... it only leads to bad, not progress.

    What do you mean by Islamic extremism propaganda, and what are some examples of it being condoned on social media?

    I can’t imagine anyone who thinks hate speech should be censored would be like, “Oh yeah, it’s OK to promote violence against Christians on social media.”

    It is not about it being condoned, it is about it being look past because of ... "free speech"

    Well... "people have rights to say what they want" while videos continue to circulate on social media that recruit the people who end up strapping bombs on themselves. Cops look past it and think of it as not that important because ... "democracy".

    You can bet @across110thstreet loves music promoting violence against cops, or laughs off hate videos on youtube as not a big deal. But people die as a result, and they die often. People have rights, but hate speech isn't one of them. These guys should have been detained and prosecuted immediately.

    It is ALL right there in the quote in the first post. All you have to do is open your eyes. There are certain issues governments have to be strict on no matter how liberal they want to be.

    Innocent people die as a result of hate speech no matter WHAT the medium.

    Whether it is a poor muslim youth brainwashed by extremism videos, recruited because he doesn't know any better.

    Or a marginalized youth with no father figure or community figures to listen to and believes hip hop is gospel. Carries a gun with him wherever he goes because that is the norm and sometimes mistakes COULD happen.

    Do not pretend one is less severe than the other. The stats show these narratives kill a lot of people. Hate speech needs to be stopped and persecuted immediately, not allowed to fester.

    I agree. Remove the president from office. He has the most powerful bully pulpit on the planet and inspires millions of white nationalist sympathizers daily.

    This is confusing.

    Political correctness doesn't want hate speech. It want overly sensitive speech. It's against hate speech.

    What you are talking about is limited speech - or speech without hate. That would suppress, censor (ban) and maybe even penalize or criminalize hate speech of all type - including that of the one spill by the preacher, by Trump, and many others.

    It seems you are assuming Sri Lanka have the same free speech and free press as in the US. That doesn't seem to be the case.

    "Sri Lankan press reported in July 2017 that the organisation’s leaders were being prosecuted for making derogatory remarks in a video against Buddha and hurting the sentiments of the Sinhala-Buddhist community."

    Of course rarely anything is just as simple as the problem is with political correctness or free speech or limited speech. There has been a history of clashes between Buddhist extremists and Muslims over the past years in Sri Lanka and I'm sure that play a part also.

    Poor black kids are not listening to gangsta rap on their boom boxes and viewing music as a substitute dad.

    Serious, it isn't 1989.....

    All the black kids are being indoctrinated by Black Panther thinking they can go back to Africa to rule as rightful king.... we literally see tens of thousands of black kids swimming back to Africa to stake their claim to Wakanda.
