I’ve never liked Royce young, but that’s purely due to his homerism for Westbrook and OKC. As a person however, he seems like a really good dude and the article written about his daughter was really sad. It’s extremely unfortunate and disgusting someone would stoop that low to insult him and not recognize that basketball isn’t everything
This is really egregious, but this is more of a general sports fan thing combined with the anonymity of Internet -- not specific to OKC sports fans.
Thats the problem with social media in general. Its gives people a large mouth to say whatever they want without any remorse or repercussions and is an echo chamber for like-minded people.
A lot of people say a lot of horrible things on the internet ..do we really need to make a thread for everything?
Royce young is too biased in his OKC reporting and I dislike that approach from him. That said, that comment above is one of the most putrid things I have ever read and it makes me angry. I am really sorry Royce had to read that. These are human beings people. C'mon.
The Internet creates detachment of individuals from others... an individual posted something completely offensive on a news article about my cousin's death, and responded with a comment that the victim of the crime is a real person... they quickly apologized and backed off once they realized that real people are impacted.
Nope, but somehow it makes me feel good to shake my head at the worst of what the other side has to offer. It's dumb and shouldn't effect me, but just being honest. On the flip side, I would probably shake my head in embarrassment if that was a Rockets fan.
I really don't like Royce Young because he is a Westbrook fanboy thus a Harden hater. I remember one time he said "Harden's step back in ruining the sports of basketball" in a podcast, and that was one of the most triggering sports comment I've ever heard. But he doesn't deserve this, any curse to family member is definitely out of line no matter what.
I think people need wake up calls and this is one of them when it comes to sports fans. It's unacceptable and needs to be called out and talked about when it happens. Ignoring the bad is not a good way to fix things.
A group of real OKC fans should pull up to that dudes house on behalf of Royce. Durant’s probably like.....yeah....
I need a private investigator to get on this ASAP. I want every detail of homeboy’s life publicized. I want flyers up in his office, at his church, on his neighbor’s doors. This shall not fly. The man lost his daughter man.
Damn. How in the world can someone feel like this is justified? I wouldn't say something like this to a 9/11 hijacker. I mean I'd do countless other terrible things to a 9/11 hijacker but making light of their dead children? That's crossing the line. The author of that comment must be a truly miserable person.
