Well a few years ago she used to be HOT something to look at... NOT NO MORE and some of her commits geez
I think it's fine to disagree about Burke. It's what we do around here. I thought she was terrible last night. Why? She would not shut up. It has nothing to do with her sex. If a guy was droning on nonstop as a color commentator, I would have had the same criticism. There are times during a game when it would be nice not to hear unnecessary commentary. Those times didn't exist last night as far as I'm concerned. Part of my reaction likely had to do with coming straight home from a hilarious Seth Myers doing standup downtown to this absolutely nerve racking game. The dichotomy was staggering.
Meh. It's not a big deal. I personally wouldn't have used the term towards her because of commentary but it's not going to bother me if someone does. Calling her a w**** is definitely out of line
What percentage of Giannis shots arise after he pushes off a perimeter player? The issue here isn’t just the contact. It’s the asymmetric way in which the league officiates contact on perimeter players. Harden obviously takes advantage of it more than anyone, and he’s also kind of a trend-setter and we can expect more and more players to practice his moves. If she’d like the league to reconsider how they officiate that, it’s fine. JVG complains about how things are officiated all the time in response to plays on the floor, and no one here is bothered by it.
"b****" is the female equivalent of "dick," no? Is "dick" gendered in an evil way? Would you call a woman a "dick"? Do you have concerns over evil sexism when we call someone a "dick"? "w****," on the other hand, makes no literal sense in this case. That said, I do not feel Doris Burke is a b**** or w**** or dick.
Didn't read every comment but calling her a w**** is bad regardless, you are either a dumb kid or a straight up gutless man.
Nah, she was great last night, but there is a lot of sexism in this very thread, calling her names like "b****", "w****", "Chick"...etc....are all sexist and demeaning in nature. If you just didn't like her calls, that's fine, I disagree, but that is fine, but name calling, is clearly showing an agenda, that many probably don't even realize they have or are doing. DD
I don't believe it matters perimeter vs inside. The difference regards back-to-the-basket vs faced-up. Giannis does similar to Harden faced-up during his drives.
What's demeaning about calling a girl a chick? I've been using the term since the 1960's. Is calling a guy a dude demeaning? Is calling a guy a guy demeaning? When my significant other was young, there were times I called her a chick and no one was offended. Like at Paleface Park (now called "Pacebend Park"), someone might have asked me, "Where's your old lady?" and I might reply, "She's the naked chick about to jump off the cliff. You'll recognize her if she turns around." Geez.
I am not here for the misogynistic takes. That's weak sauce. Evaluate her on her performance alone, please. I feel like Doris is one of the better color broadcasters on TV. I also feel like she is not the biggest Harden fan (which is odd because Harden plays PG, similar to Doris). Doris *IS* a fan of Westbrook for some reason. Not sure if there is a correlation there. This game wasn't one of Doris' more stronger games. But she wasn't awful, imo.
EWS said she should "go back to softball," a sport she never played nor announced but is often associated with being a lesbian, the height of misogyny.
I've never used the term, but could see it if she was tasty. ;-) Maybe this should be in Hangout! Just kidding. It refers to a young woman, "a chick," and has been used forever. Since that no longer describes Doris, maybe it doesn't fit. I use the term all the time in "real life." My bad?
Always thought she was horrible. Would rather listen to dumbass webber any day of the week. Not to mention the people that insist on calling her attractive. No offense to anyone but you really have to be ugly as a foot or the lowliest of incels to think so
