I don't know guys. I have rewatched the first half of this game and Doris, even Punk-ass Pasch, haven't said anything bad yet. They have been complimentary of Harden even saying some of the calls have been bad calls against the Rockets. Of course she can turn on a dime like the Clipper announcer did.
She's fine and I enjoy listening to her. I disagree about her opinion about Harden and his alleged pushoffs but ESPN has beern pushing that narratice the last few years. In fact I think they're you're probably so aggressively attacking her BECAUSE she's a woman. You just sound unnecessarily angry.
Yea I donno, I didnt think Doris was that bad.......Pasch on the other hand, he was saying some stuff in the 4th. Also, Matt Moore tweeted this LOL. So idk maybe its viable, then again I find him to be one of the more reactionary sports writers.
Well, I haven't watched the second half yet. But I'm preparing my body to be shocked. It's just like the Clippers announcer; he was very complementary of Harden and the Rockets to begin with, then all off sudden, he turned.
I believe that was after Harden stayed in the backcourt complaining about a non-foul and allowed an open three pointer on the other end. If I’m not mistaken, that happened a couple times. Are we really going to go after her for calling that out? Would we expect anything less from, say, JVG? Hell, would we expect anything less from our local crew? No.
Of course it matters. They are calling the game. If you are not sure, or have not seen it, say you reserve a judgement until you can see the replay. I dont care what it felt to her. That commentary is not needed. And it has nothing to do with her sex. I already called her the Kenny Smith of ESPN. Granted Kenny played like a girl at times but that was not why I drew that parallel.
As I said, every broadcast crew will give an opinion of what a play looks like in real time, before waiting for the replay. I don’t know why you are singling out Burke for this.
The issue with this particular play I am talking about was that the replay didnt show anything conclusive, but her initial commentary had already made a call which they were not able to then verify either ways.
Just finished the 3rd quarter. Doris and punk-ass Pasch have been fine. Doris was using words like "smart" and "magical" to describe the play of James Harden when he was still 0 for 1 million from the field. Doris was even pointing out that Harden could easily hit a game winner and no one would care about his bad shooting. Doris marveled at Harden's steals numbers. They both brought up the ridiculous free throw disparity the Jazz had and pointed out how the technical from Quin worked because now Mitchell was heading to the line at an exorbitant amount. Doris commented on a PJ foul that shouldn't have been a foul. They both were surprised there wasn't a flagrant 1 on the O'neal's foul on Harden because of the chirpiness in the game. Doris even chastised the Jazz for complaining to the refs. So far I haven't heard anything so terrible to warrant a cancellation of Doris Burke. 4th quarter must be a doozy.
Completely disagree with OP. Burke is the best color commentator on ESPN, maybe tied with JVG- but JVG is always teamed with Mark Jackson and they rely too hard on their disagreeing schtick. I was really glad they were calling the game. She's fair and insightful.
"Softball?" Your allusion is neither subtle nor factual, Trumptrash. She was married and has two kids.
She corrected her mistake calls on some 4th quarter plays, like the late whistle on a Harden drive where Rubio gets his arm, and then complaining about Tucker? I think complaining about a foul call. I think she was quick to try to point the finger, but she had no problems saying she was completely wrong if she was.
The problem is we cannot get pbp and actual analysis anymore because the loud mouths like sas get paid. Now everyone has to "step" up their game to stay relevant. It sucks for viewers. For me just describe the action and tell me what happened, not what you think about what happened because I don't give a **** about what you think. I'm not a nephew.
I agree. Sometimes it's just too much opinion and analysis. I'm watching the game with my own two eyes. We don't need constant chatter about every little thing.
Could be playing a role, but I think it's more due to Rockets fans being very sensitive. Anything less than never-ending, over-the-top praise can be interpreted as an anti-Rockets conspiracy.
