Construction accident? Looks to be a whole lot of scaffolding there.

 

Completely oblivious to facts hot take. Construction worker not wanting to go down scaffolds to smoke a ciggy and accidentally ashes flammable paint.

 

Hot take two, irresponsible version: worker with sketchy connections sees easy way for big terrorist incident at the start of Holy Week.

Typically it’s welders not seeing where the sparks are flying, heating up some insulation or other flammable thing and boom.

Survived war and the Nazis, revolutions, etc. This is a true tragedy. What a horrible shame. The wood in the structure of that thing is so old it's probably dry as hell. I don't know how much if any they will be able to save. I hope so much for the best. There is already so much damage done.

 

This is awful. It's a global icon and symbol of Paris. I hope they were able to save as many artifacts as they could.

 

This makes me really sad.

 

Good a time as any to turn it into a mosque. It will happen someday, may as well be sooner than later.
