Typically, no without a significant wait period. Apparently, they also retain some ownership currently but not the majority stake. These deals are usually done with a performance bonus structure based on transition and usually include noncompete clauses. Perhaps they felt this just wasn't part of the Rockets' core priorities and didn't really want to stick with the "if we build it they will come" for the more aggressive investments ahead. This deal was probably about gaining the Rockets IP at a cheaper rate than starting up. I love video games but I am not really into this side of things so although I see the possibility for it taking off I do see some of the downside ie Facebook when you rely on something to keep growing exponentially but then it becomes a mature business that swings with economic trends.

LOL. Only guys who play video games can get a thrill watching others play them. It's just imaginary stuff like watching cartoons. Most people grow out of that stuff, or just do it for fun, but prefer real life sports with real people instead of fantasy games.

Tension is high because most gamers are coming to grips with the size and scope of Assassins Creed Odyssey, and that it is impossible to finish.

All I ever see is the same game on TBS or TNT or whatever it is. Bunch a guys running around shooting each other. I don't even know what game it is. But I can't seem to get interested. I want to. Maybe nba 2k would get me interested, but when is it on, and when I can watch it. I need something I can watch, root for, and understand what's going on. I do think it could be big. I was surprised how many of my friend wanted to watch me play Fantasy Star when I was kid, just to see what happens. I kept offering to let them play, and they just wanted to watch. That should have been my clue. I didn't see it.

eSports is for sure the future.

The problem right now, imo, is it's so hard to have the one dominant game with a great competetive scene.

The only game big enough to just become this massive eSport is fortnite but there just isnt a reliable competetive scene.

Cod, owl, lol, csgo are all decent but just wont "blow up" outside their fanbase demographic. I watch cos, but when I try and watch owl or lol or csgo I fade interest almost immediately.

A lot, a lot, of eSports are having serious financial issues currently. Especially in the cod scene but for sure elsewhere as well.

This could just be the business side of Tilman recognizing that investment just isnt ready yet or is not fruitful enough.

I think you should do a case study and look and analyze the youth and what they are migrating towards because the vast majority isnt physical sports.

There is a reason online gaming is constantly expanding and getting bigger. Ots not the old people doing it for fun. It's all the children them old people are having.

That's what I said. Its for kids. Many will grow out of that stuff, especially when they marry and have a family.

I don't know that they'll grow out of it. Each generation in the video game era has played longer and longer. Many of my friends from high school that I played games with are still into gaming. I'm not anymore, but I'd say a 1/3 of that group are.

Sounds like you old... lol jk.
But esports is a big thing. Maybe not here in the USA. But outside of it, gaming world is evolving fast.. you might think it’s silly but there’s players making big bank playing video games..

typical american mentality. the rest of the world isn't as closed minded to video games as the US is. the US is slowly catching up though

Apples and oranges. Its not about being closed minded. Some people aren't into gaming but outside types. Give me nature any day.

    I KNOW!!!

Haha, thats how bad Clutch Gaming was managed.. They literally blew up the previous team (keeping LiRa) to build a new one directly around LiRa  lol I rooted for Clutch Gaming, but boy was it hard to.

Idk who I'm going to root for in LCS going forward :/ I've been following the Europe league and rooting for Fabivens teams since I liked him at Clutch Gaming- just a tip/advice.

in LCS I'll probably go with Cloud9 or Liquid

Cloud9 because I really like Nisqy & Liquid because Xmithie, Jensen, Doublelift.. I just like a lot of their players games.

I dont think you understand the magnitude of influence gaming had on kids as they grow.

Our generation and the ones before me, grew up playing sports going outside with friends yo play ball or whatever. And thus we matured into watching it.

Kids are now being influenced strongly by gaming and ultimately when they grow old with wife and kids, they will do like prior generations and watch that which they had a passion for.

eSports will eventually take over. Maybe not in 10 years. But eventually it will...

Maybe. Would be sad if that happened. Too much fixation on that stuff would be a world of grownups who get winded walking a block

Apparently if you play games you can only play games and not do physical activities also. News to me.

I was talking about the kids who only play those games. More and more kids stay indoors now. Sure, some do both. Nothing wrong with the games unless it becomes an obsession, just like couch potatoes in front of a tv.

I think this statement is incredibly blind, fixated on stigmatisms and misunderstanding.

You can go get on twitch right now, or YouTube is probably more familiar for you, and start looking up pro gamers or famous "streamers".

What you'll realize is that a huge majority are actually skinny and most of them go to the gym near daily.

None the less, I dont really want to continue this debate because it doesnt appear it will bear fruit for either side and ultimately lead to a is it actually a sports debate which I really sont wanna get into.

Good chat, hopefully I provided some insight to open your mind a bit towards the gaming evolution that will inevitably come.
