...apologies for new thread...I just wanted to get in on this creating depressing threads thing, this morning...to see if it helps me.
Scoring droughts, keep shooting threes, rushed decisions, coach not calling a time-out? Seems about right
Ahahah, I was thinking about this last night as the Rockets went up 99-85 (on DVR delay) - "it's ok, even if they rip off a 14-2 run we're good!..just going to fast forward a bit to skp this dumb commercial...d'oh"
Eric Gordon happened!! Lol. Imperceptible to the folks that don't watch Rockets every game, but the rotation was just ever so slightly "off". They've blown leads before. But mainly came down to EG last night. Rockets immediately went on a 6-0 run when EG went out with 5:15 left. He came back in with 2:37 left, and the Rockets were -5 the rest of the way, with EG recording basically no stats at all.
Considering that we only have seen spurts of bad threads creation for only 15 times after the 11-14 start, I'm cautiously optimistic.
Not only did he not record any stats, but he missed a WIDE OPEN Tucker standing under the basket on the in-bounds with 1.8 seconds left. When Gordon is bad, he's so infuriatingly bad that it makes you wonder if he's doing it on purpose. Like, how can someone be such a good player 95% of the time, but that last 5% of the time he's literally worse than the waterboy? I have absolutely ZERO trust in him in big-game moments. To me, he is to the Rockets what Will Harris is to the Astros. Someone who can give us nice, quality play during the regular season, but someone who can't be trusted when the lights are brightest.
Poor Gordon missed about 5 easy opportunities to reach 100 to no avail. But ehh... Who cares, just one game.
The extra problem is Gordon isn't the only one like this. Remember when Tucker inbounded the ball kind of sort of to no one and then kind of just stood there. The consistency/variability of the role players has been something I haven't enjoyed for a few years now. This is partly just role players generally across the league. But I'd much rather just get their averages every night instead of the rollercoaster play. But I'm not sure DM agrees with this...
