Embarrassed to say I am old enough to remember each. Each had something good and bad about them. The positives: Nixon's trip to China, Reagan's ability to connect with people, Ford's basic goodness (similar to Carter) as an every man, GHWB's was even better at it than Ford, despite having a fairly patrician upbringing, GWB's bringing the country together after 9/11 (and like his dad, seemed someone you'd like to have a beer with. trump, hmm, doesn't belong with these others.

If I had to choose one... Reagan.

    Bush Sr

He raised taxes knowing it would kill him although if there were no Ross Perot he would have been re-elected. Raising taxes set Clinton up for a good economy.

He also handled Dessert Storm perfectly. Very underrated.

Bush Jr is one who doesn't belong. Beers dont matter. Dude gave away surplus went into iraq and left economy collapsing. It kills me people actually say Trump is worse than that. Nothing is worse. None of that is worth being a likable drinking buddy. Hell he doesn't even drink anymore because he was a bad drinker.

You focused on my description of GWB's likability (a trait no one can claim for trump).

GWB was president during the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. And for at least the time immediately after the attack, demonstrated admirable leadership uniting the country during a difficult time. In addition, later in GWB's presidency he was responsible for significant HIV/AIDs and malaria work in Africa. Last, GWB was responsible for the Medicare Drug program.

Nothing trump has done approaches those accomplishments (the one trump accomplishment is the prison reform bill). In fact, trump has even failed at uniting the country during difficult times (numerous school shootings, Charlottesville).

Teddy Roosevelt. He just did what needed to be done. He was certainly a man of his times but he had big balls, not fake big balls.

Anybody can throw a bunch of money at Africa. Bush didn't accomplish a damn thing.

Saying Trump is worse at this point is ludicrous

    Great Recession Iraq. Katrina

    Its not close

Whether or not anyone can throw a bunch of money at Africa isn't relevant. What is relevant is that he and he alone did give aid to fight the AIDS epidemic.

It would have been done. Somebody told him Africa needs money for HIV and he agreed.

He gets waaay too much credit for that like AIDS was a personal cause of his

Bush's shining moment were the days after9-11 no doubt. Thinking about Trump's demeanor i definitely would say i cringe to think of him on television after something like that.

That being said Bush gave away that goodwill trying to get revenge for daddy in iraq

Again, I listed three major accomplishments of GWB's presidency. He didn't "throw money", but addressed a serious African and global problem and fulfilled a Clinton promise. Millions of lives were saved in the process.
