Meanwhile, republicans invited a respected expert to speak... though some were upset that she was described as "conservative"...

This is the kind of stuff that makes me tune out of politics. Just sheer idiocy. Not ignorance. It’s frustration overload watching that crap.

Diamond & Silk is basically a 21st century minstrel show for the right. I don't really get what Owens is other than tasteless, though I assume she's a genius compared to Louie Gohmert, 10x winner of America's dumbest-sounding congressperson.

Throw in Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, Kanye and that dipshit Sheriff from Wisconsin and there's your Black Republican party.

Tim Scott, are you watching this?

No need to drag the Workers Party of Korea into this.

    ...and another news flash:

The American Civil War was NOT about slavery. You can't quote the Confederates in their Articles of Secession on that. But it's there.

during Tuesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing on white nationalism and hate crimes, the moment that sparked the most fireworks belonged to Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.). At the very least, it appeared to draw outright fury from Owens.

“In congressional hearings, the minority party gets to select its own witnesses,” Lieu started his remarks.
“Of all the people the Republicans could have selected, they picked Candace Owens.”
“I don’t know Ms. Owens. I’m not going to characterize her,” he continued.
“I’m going to let her own words do the talking.”
He then pulled out his phone to play a clip of Owens that had gone viral in February and
was widely seen as a shocking defense of Adolf Hitler and his nationalist program.

    in the audio, Owens says
"I don't have a problem with the word "nationalism"
but that "it's globalism that I try to avoid,"

    using Hitler as an example,
"If Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well — OK, fine,"
"The problem is ... he had dreams outside of Germany. He wanted to globalize.
He wanted everybody to be German."

Owens is seen fuming as the audio is played. She later claimed that Lieu’s demonstration was evidence that
the California Democrat believed that “black people are stupid” and urged lawmakers to watch the full video of her remarks.

Black people like Owens are very dangerous. They can say stupid things that white Republicans couldn't get away with saying which is precisely why they trot her out. Shame on her for being a useful idiot for profit.

Ted Lieu is awesome! Love that guy!

Edit: It just struck me how much similarity there is between Ted Lieu and AOC in how they see the heart of an issue, the fatal flaw in a claim, and cut directly to it with surgical precision.

You do realize that the Southern Strategy was used by Republicans to win southern votes, right?

Like, I agree that if you are going to write a report about something wiki is bad but it is pretty good for basic knowledge....such as...

"In American politics, the Southern strategy was a Republican Party electoral strategy to increase political support among white voters in the South by appealing to racism against African Americans."
