Why? Seriously? Did you take any history in school? Any at all? Have you not heard the truism attributed to Santayana, that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it? Good grief. My children, who are likely older than you, certainly care about history. It's important, whether it is the history of basketball or of the Greeks and Romans.
I don’t disagree with any of that. I’m making the more narrow argument that I don’t care about players when they are no longer a world class athlete. Sure what they did for the game is cool but I don’t care about them as a celebrity.
Olajuwon is still doing lots of things post Rockets career involving training players and mentoring. He's not like Michael Jordan just being an owner and collection money from the sneakers with his logo on it. The dude @Clutch ALWAYS cares about Olajuwon
I don't think its so much when Hakeem retired as it is why Robinson didn't even play ball til 8th grade, and why he played so little before the NBA. He must not have been interested in sports. Maybe he played with Barbies, was into video games, or a bookworm. I imagine when you get that tall as a kid people can persuade you to do something you werent interested in saying because you are tall you can get rich doing it.
So much wrong with this. Sports have had a real and lasting impact on history. If it's just a game why do you even post in the garm?
People still talk about Jesus Christ and that dude died along time ago before social media and auto tune rappers Clutchfans can always talk about Hakeem Olajuwon or Akeem Olajuwon til the end of the human race
Thats just embarrassing for him You can tell when his teammates paid him out. An NBA player not knowing who Hakeem is, is like a 16 year old who can't count to 100 yet.
