Broadcaster says James Harden is cheating the game

Well, he got one thing right.

His rant might actually help Harden. He looked ridiculous saying those things in front of a national TV audience while Harden was having one of his most efficient scoring games of the season while getting his teammates involved.

 

"Not playing the game the right way" is such lazy analysis and criticism. It's the equivalent of "well, that's the way we've always done it."

 

Well, this is why Harden won't win the MVP. This is how many of the MVP voters feel about Harden. Harden only won the award last year because the Rockets won 65 games and the voters had to grudgingly give Harden the award.

 

Hahaha!!!! That is awesome.

You know you are one of the greatest players ever when you are so good that people accuse you of cheating or playing the wrong way. Shaq and Jordan got a lot of that type of hate back in the day.

 

Actually I think this will be beneficial the backlash to this comment has been widespread.

 

I think he hit all the major talking points, aside from the "he doesn't even play defense!" one. It was hilarious hearing him ramble incoherently on one play in which Harden drove in, kicked it out, teammates swung the ball around, and Capela ended up with a huge alley-oop. Meanwhile the hockey goon or whatever the hell he is is droning on, "I guess...I just like a different kind of basketball..." WTF?

Not only do I not expect Harden to win this year, I'm increasingly of the mind that he's very lucky to have even won it last year. I'm pretty sure the voters' mentality was "Fine, have your stupid award. Now go the $#@% away and never come back."

 

Wasn't a past criticism of D'Antoni that he would not adapt his system around his current players?

And now the problem is that he's adapted his system around a once-in-a-lifetime player?

 

I had to breakdown these highlights after that clown Clippers broadcaster.

Harden cheating the game:

1)Aggressive full court on ball defense - so he throws an alley oop assist from 5 feet beyond the 3 point line for a Capela dunk.

2)Defender playing left side hard so harden drives straight into a double team and floats it over the big defender.

3)SAME PLAY (almost)! Defender hedges hard left side against CP screen, Harden drives straight and now 3 defenders collapse on him. Floats an alley opp to Clint for the dunk. We're 4 minutes into the game and Harden has cheated the NBA with already 2 rim rocking alley oop dunk plays. Boring!

4)Next play. When Giannis does this NBA twitter jizzes. Harden defender again takes away left side so Harden again drives straight. Puts in an easy lay up despite rotating help D and a collapsing big in the paint.

5)Next play is "ISO just a guy dribbling": Center at top of key, Harden runs a route, gets a screen from Tucker and gets ball from Clint at top. Again defender guards heavy on left forcing Harden to drive straight and float one over the big camped out in the paint. Defense has NO ANSWER for his floater when they try to employ the Bucks defense.

6)Harden while sitting down on the floor assists for a layup in the paint.

7)Harden in corner being guard heavy left, so he steps back right for a 3.

8)Harden in transition hits Gordon for 3.

9)They’re finally scared of his floater and giving him room, still heavy on the left side, so Harden step back right to a 3.

10)Oh ****! Heavy on ball D at half court again, so again he throws an alley oop assist to Clint from the Staples Center logo. Cheating the game. The way basketball isn’t supposed to be played.

11)A series of screens to get CP3 the ball, Harden backdoor cuts, 2 defenders collapse on Harden. Harden alley oop assist to Clint for the dunk.

12)Gallinari ISO on Harden. All 4 other Rocket players out on the key to dare a defender to come help with a double team on this mismatch. No one does so Harden does a lay up drill.

13) A series of screens to get Harden the ball, Harden with a running alley oop assist from the 3 point line for the Clint dunk. Disgusting basketball.

14)Defender guarding Harden left side, Harden drives straight, Eurostep on the big defender in the paint.

15) High screen with everyone spread out turns into a Harden lay up drill. This is just bad defense cheating the NBA.

16) Galinari on Harden ISO mismatch. Doing the guard his left thing. Harden step back to his right for the 3. Galinari too slow and clumsy on the contest and fouls Harden. 4 pt play.

The guy literally praised Clippers players for doing that. "Yeah, see that's how you do it! Drive in hard and draw the contact, get to the line!" I was thinking, "Dude, you were just b****ing about Harden doing the exact same thing 5 minutes ago."

Would also suggest that Coach Bud and his system doesn’t have anything to do with the Bucks’ and Giannis’s success this year. Therefore, Giannis should be eliminated from MVP talk

 

This was definitely really distracting and annoying while watching the game. People don't watch/listen for that.

What's weird is I'm rewatching the game (I'm still in the first half ) he has been giving Harden and the Rockets compliments. I wonder what changed at halftime.
