Broadcaster says James Harden is cheating the game

I can't remember in all my 40+ years of watching NBA basketball an announcer of an opposing team trash a member of the other team for his play. The only thing that comes close is when Bull has called out a cheap shot or something like that but NEVER heard them call another teams player a "cheater".

Not acceptable.

 

they guy sounds like a debbie downer, his voice reeks of depression and self pity. i was listening to the broadcast and wondering how anyone could put up with his voice for a season.

Guess what happens in LA, people create stuff and make stuff up. Harden is from LA so he did revolutionize his shot, but... this other guy trying to get noticed because he hasn't done it in the NBA. I'd be shocked if this fool doesn't come back down and do some of taking back his words. He'll most likely say he said it in the heat of the moment and his allegiance to the Clippers made him say that. I can't wait when a landslide of hate is going to hit the UCLA stud for a really uncalled for comments. He should follow Ed O'Bannon, he would do better.

This is everywhere. I’m listening to ESPN radio and they are criticizing this ridiculous opinion.

 

Again little analysis and simply based on conjecture or feelings. He said “I feel” quite a bit in the whole segment. Just a ludicrous, ill informed and biased statement. You never hear Bullard or drexler trashing opposing players. The concept of harden cheating the game has no basis. He gets fouled literally every time he drives to the rim and it’s not his fault he is so smart that he understands how to obtain contact and position his body in positions to facilitate contact or lure players in. Is this against the NBA rule book? Very disturbing comments in my opinion. I wonder if Steve Nash plays the same way what would the media and dumbass fans say? They probably say “ oh my, what a genius!” “What an intelligent high IQ player who understands momentum, positioning, and elite scorer!” “Oh my!”

 

Could this be good for Harden? Because this isn’t the first time someone has brought up cheating the game, and this asshat probably took it from Quitten. Even though it makes no sense in any context, it really accentuates the non sensical hate that Harden gets when you listen to a guy rip him as he tears through your team.

 

The “system” argument is the stupidest argument I have ever heard. For context here is the argument in summary:

“James Harden is only able to score like this because D’Antoni has built a system that maximizes his talent”

It’s hard to find a more ludicrous argument in all of sports today.

This argument suggests all of the following:

1. Trying to create a system that maximizes the ability of your best player is somehow a mistake.

2. Other greats like Jordan and Lebron played in systems that didn’t maximize their talents.

3. Style is more important than winning.

4. That other players purposely seek to score less because they don’t want to “hog the ball”.

5. That other coaches purposely fail to maximize the abilities of their best players for some unknown reason.

Seriously - we need Nick Wright to weigh in on this and call bullshit. Any coach who doesn’t seek to maximize the talents of their best player when doing so leads to more wins would be incompetent and should be fired immediately.

And the suggestion that Jordan, Wilt, Lebron, etc. somehow played in systems that didn’t seek to max their ability is just idiotic.

The league should hand Morey and DA a lifetime achievement award for so completely maximizing the skills of a generational talent like Harden. It is an extraordinary achievement that every great basketball mind ever would admire and appreciate.
