Like hiring Charley Casserly as GM...... letting Rick Smith operate as GM for 11 seasons..... keeping Bill O'Brien as your head coach even though after 5 seasons he has been a .500% coach....

No, if you are not a "smart" owner, then you are a "bad" owner.

There has been little sense of urgency (sans the Reed year), there has been zero creativity or progressive culture in the organization. It is so bad that Hub Arkush actually listed the Texans as being viewed as the least enlightened or progressive organization in the NFL.

At the end of the day, ownership and their leadership has been mediocre. You can always find someone as bad or worse....... but it has been worse than a majority of fans expected, and if you look at the recent comments of the head coach, nothing has changed. The Texans haven't used their cap space in going on three seasons now. They aren't rebuilding....... and they are not doing everything they can to win........ so where does that leave them? What they have been.... around a .500% team.

I recently had someone tell me how excited they are that BOB finally fired an OC..... and how it WILL be different. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it isn't any different..... the OC has worked with BOB for almost a decade now, going back to Penn State.

Everyone at Reliant kind of gets to point fingers at each other and stumble along and keep their jobs as long they are horrible.

Ahhh, the best time of the year when the Texans are linked to everybody and end up with a bunch of nobodies.

From what I have heard, Texans do have interest but are not budging on their compensation. They are offering a mid round pick from 2020 in exchange for Johnson and a late rd pick. Cleveland is asking for a better deal from other teams that have inquired. Cleveland is not the team initiating talks so their price will be steeper than our offer.

Do not be surprised to see Texans get outbid by Philly or another team more likely to part with draft capital for talented players. Its also possible they do not move Johnson, but unlikely given his request.

I think we could end up with duke Johnson. Says eagles and jets showing interest as well but...eagles just traded for Howard and jets got Le’Veon

Doesn't Duke have history with concussions? I would love for the Texans to add a player with his skills, but it would need to be a healthy player.

I'm not big on the idea of giving up a pick from this year but for a player like Duke I guess it wouldn't hurt. Plus they could probably replace that pick with a Clowney trade.

Being a bad owner does not mean you don't want to win a Super Bowl, Nook, which is the charge you've leveled at the McNairs. Jerry Jones is a bad owner, too - does he not want to win a Super Bowl?

HUB ARKUSH?!! Why didn't you say so! There is no greater leading authority in NFL circles than the (fires up Google) Bears beat reporter for (googles again) chicagofootball.com.

I have no idea how you or Hub would know the inner workings of the Texans' organization.

They haven't been exceptional - you've yet to provide any evidence that they don't want to win a Super Bowl, though. In fact, of the evidence we know of, it points to them being good owners who make bad decisions: they spend money, they are not afraid to spend draft capital, they are patient with their coaches, they don't interfere...

It's just unfair to look at results and conclude they don't want to win a Super Bowl.
