XXXTentacion's murder last year was pretty big as well considering he was on the rise. But yea.....this one really sucks.

I'm not surprised. Honestly his body could use the rest as well as his spirit.

Iv seen nipsey at quite a few rockets games.

Him and Harden are real close.

    This is really sad

Nipsey was one of the last few real hip hop artist left especially from the west coast.

    Way to young.

I remember being in Puerto Rico almost 9 years ago with my brothers and friends listing to nipsey driving around the island just exploring and doing what ppl do when their in their mid and late 20s it’s a memory I’ll always have and nipsey is part of it very crazy.

I'm not a fan of most hip hop music, being from the era of the '60's and '70's rock/psychedelic rock/blues/jazz/folk scene, but I'm a fan of poetry, and I've read some lyrics from the hip hop genre that were/are pretty damn poetic and original. What I know far more about are the loss of very close, lifelong friends. Stick around long enough and you become far more acquainted with it than you ever imagined when you were young. So I can relate to the loss suffered by James and the others close to Nipsey.

It hurts badly and the pain never really goes away. You eventually bury it deep inside, but it comes out and hits you from time to time, usually when you least expect it, probably triggered by a reminder you might not have even noticed until the memories come flooding in. Maybe when you're driving alone, or laying in bed, unable to sleep. Then you figure out why.

So the memories are a mixed bag. They can hurt, they can make you laugh, but they also help keep those you lost in this world alive. As long as you remember them, and tell others the stories about them that the two of you created, they live on within you and in others, and no one except time can take that away. Whether the person close to you was taken by a fool with a gun, or a fool behind the wheel, they remain inside.

Good luck dealing with this, James. May your friend Rest In Peace. There is little enough of it around these days.

Didn't know much about Nipsey but reading about how he would open businesses in his area and give struggling people jobs made me sad. He was someone who went back to his hood and really tried to help.

wow man...all that sh*t he was doing for the hood, for his community, and he ends up getting gunned down

dude was looking to make a real difference, to bring about positive change...he made money and was investing it back into the black community creating jobs for residents and places for kids to see and do things they normally wouldn’t get to do

    RIP Nipsey...this is tragic

ESPN headline: LeBron, Curry mourn loss of rapper Hussle

Sample paragraph: "LeBron James was among several athletes -- including Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Isaiah Thomas and Tobias Harris -- to express their shock and sorrow at the news on social media."

No mention whatsoever of Harden, who lost his boyhood friend.

To be fair, Harden's post wasn't up nearly as long as those players. But that fits Harden's personality. He's always had more of a reserved personality and probably prefers to grieve privately.

That is because they want the public attention that they loss a friend...Harden is really suffering the loss. When you are hurting like he is, it is a deep private pain, and you don't want your hurt or close friend to be used by the media. We can encircle Harden in our Rocket love and help him through this terrible loss he is experiencing. Lots of love and hugs to you, James...we Rocket fans have you and your pain in our arms. RIP Nipsey Hussel.
