He was charged with 16 class D felonies. Its disorderly conduct in Illinois to file a false report. Under 720 ILCS 5/26-1(a)(2-10) , a variety of false complaints, reports, and alarms are labeled as disorderly conduct. These provisions cover false 911 calls, false fire alarms, false bomb reports, and false reports of crime or abuse. Whenever an individual makes a false report of any kind to a public agency, the individual can be charged with disorderly conduct. These provisions are designed to weed out fabricated reports in order to concentrate resources on investigating and prosecuting legitimate reports.
Delete if this is already posted (I looked but didn't find it): https://www.realclearpolitics.com/v...ination_of_justice_has_not_shown_remorse.html Pretty interesting. Rahm seems legititmately outraged. We live in weird times because a lot of people on both sides of the aisle appear to have lost faith in our justice system.
You're wasting your time with him. He's a person who was heavily active in the thread regarding the MAGA hat wearing kid but wants this to go away because "who cares"
It's also has to be proven that he sent it to himself. And that may be a factor in why didn't want to go further. I admit it is odd that they dropped it as they did but it could be there is precedent and they thought it wasn't worth it. Personally, I would have liked to see him serve some jail time. But who knows, maybe he did a lot of community service and that was a mitigating circumstance. I really don't know - but I do think he's done a lot of damage to the cause of equal rights and he's a disgrace.
You make a lot of threads with multiple links. Why all of a sudden are you ignorant to this one? Who knows, lol? The "community service " and "fine" are all public. You could find it anywhere. It's a national story everywhere. There's screenshots of texts, Foxx sending a statement to here pears, interviews, the Chicago PD asking for a federal investigation, ect... you're pathetic
That’s false flag 101 Trust me. You dont know what kind of deep state rabbit hole I’ve gone down Kamala Harris passes a anti lynching bill the day after the attack as if lynching was still happening The fact that the Chicago police were releasing information before the courts are done sealing the case is sketchy. Wtf is this judge also sealing this within days of the decision is what’s crazy. Like wtf y’all hiding.
The police's motive is clear. They are furious they put so much time and money into building an easy case against Smollett and the corrupt courts are trying to cover it up. So the cops are trying to get all the information out they can legally before the courts complete the cover up. I wouldn't call the cops actions 'sketchy'.
How would the "courts" be covering this up exactly? Doesn't seem it made it to a judge as isn't the decision to drop the charges made by the DA? Question is why did the DA drop the charges.
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019...ump-smollett-hate-hoax-docs-case-sealed-judge Ignoring the michelle Obama stuff, the answer to your question is that a judge tried to seal the case so that all the evidence the police had never sees the light of day. Apparently the judge wasn't acting fast enough and the police responded to a FOIA request first and got the information out. Im no legal expert, but my understanding is that sealing a case of someone who isn't a minor rarely happens and it never happens without days of court proceedings. Again, im not a legal expert, so this last statement could be bull.
Are you purposely ignoring what has come out? It's obvious that a favor was called in. That is evident to anyone. The Chicago PD is working with the feds to get to the bottom of this. The DA dropped the charges because Foxx asked. I'm not telling you something that you don't already know.
I thought he was doing it for his own economic benefit which, if true, seems much worse than for political reasons.
Filing a false report is a class 4 felony which carries a min. 2 year sentence. The dude was being charged for 16 counts of filing a false police report. Got off free from even going to trial. Meanwhile the wagons are circling... https://www.foxnews.com/us/internal...-push-to-defend-move-to-drop-smollett-charges
Agree that despite some partisan claims both sides are unhappy with the outcome. I think this is just the latest that has caused people "on both sides of the aisle" to have lost faith in our judicial system. And likely in coming weeks there will be another. I have a few ideas as to why this one in particular is arousing more emotion but seems better to simply let this play out.
Is there a reason that the federal government hasn't already or hasn't yet filed federal charges around the use of mail? Seems that would be a quick and direct solution.
