Not a surprise though, at least not to anyone who pays attention and has their brain turned on.

Goes to show it goes above left or right. If you have the money/or a public figure you can evade justice.
At least house arrest for 2 years or something.

    Somebody call the WAAAAAAAAAAAHMMMMBULANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look, I think that dropping the charges against this guy are wrong and he should face his day in court about it. I don't think you'll find many people, regardless of their political leanings, defending this schmuck. I hope, at the least, that he never works in Hollywood again.

But cut your crybaby bulls*** about one party ignoring a laundry list of red flags to support someone. The right supported a B level celebrity millionaire who is famous for being a slumlord and starring in a reality tv show...who repeatedly cheated on wives and treated women like crap. You voted for him because of political preference and nothing else.

This is pretty wild given the public nature of this thing and the public statements put out by those in CPD and the local politicians.

Pristinely corrupt. They are not really even making a substantial attempt to pretend otherwise.

I think it is more likely that he has the money to hire good lawyers and the DA decided it'd be hard to win a conviction against a vigorous defense. So they cut a deal to apply some community service and save themselves a bunch of work and risk of failure. That seems like the Occam's Razor to me, but I haven't paid a lot of attention.

Not really - expensive defense lawyers look for technicalities ... you would be surprised what cases I have seen dropped because of faulty evidence submissions, or police going through cctv without the right permission, etc.

As this wasn't a murder case, nor a hate crime committed by a white person shouting "MAGA", the prosecution decided it wasn't worth the potential risk of failure for something so clearly fabricated. This was about protecting themselves.

They just let this stupid ass clown get away with this. They are dropping everything and even removing from his record. I wonder what would happen if a white staged something similar making it look like black guys attacked him??? I hope they give him the max for the federal crimes.

Our Criminal Justice system is having quite the 48 hours.

My guess is that the Good Ole CHI PD got caught with their pants down by Jussie’s lawyers tainting evidence to make this case more over the top, and then ended up killing any chance of a conviction in court.

The CPD has a notorious reputation for pulling sh$& like that and I thought the way they leaked to the media screamed that there was something weird going on.

Not saying Smollett was a victim of a hate crime and Trump and the KKK set the whole thing up, but I do absolutely think it’s the case that the CPD played up what Smollett did in order to slam dunk the arrest. The 15 counts were completely over the top. Especially when people die every day in that city from violence.

But damn... Our criminal (in)justice system just keeps on coming this week. What’s next?

Damn neither did I. I think we should sue. Of course it would probably help my case more if a I actually purchased a ticket.

    Democrats gonna Democrat.

This is the state that gave us Rod “Auctioneer” Blagovich and Rahm “Hold that video” Emmanuel.

    More dirty tricks.
