only reason the MVP race is still a discussion is because the guy putting up the GOAT statline is named James Harden instead of Lebron James or Steph Curry

There is no getting around this.

If Lebron was doing this on the Lakers, he’d possibly win unanimously. Curry would easily win over Giannis, too. As everyone would be saying for both of them, “this is Lebron’s/Curry’s best season ever, and arguably the best ever by anyone.”

Pretty close lol. SAS basically saying Harden can sit the rest of the season and he should still get it with his phenomenal year. Max is more reserved although he does give the 'very slight edge' to Harden...saying if you look at the numbers it could go either way.

I would say anybody not named James Harden with this kind of stat line will win the MVP undoubtedly. And for the names you mentioned who are loved by the media, Lebron, Curry, AD, KD, etc, they will probably win it unanimously.

Problem has always been that there is no clear metric for MVP.

Personally think its a stupid award the way it is currently set up.

Giannis is going to put up the same numbers for years to come. And even better numbers if he develops a 3. He has plenty more seasons to win MVPs. Especially playing in the weaker conference.

Give it to the guy putting up historic mind blowing numbers. With a tougher schedule and a much less healthy team. A guy who has been dominating the league for several years...and already has multiple MVP snubbings.

Calling it Most Valuable Player without specifying clear criteria of what "valuable" means makes it dicey. Every year (except this one) you hear sports talking heads say, "Everybody knows the award should go to LeBron every year, but..." and then they give it to other guys the last 5 years in a row.

They should just call it Best Player or Best Season. Much easier to determine that way.

These guys always always have different opinions. I sweat just last week Max said Harden and SA was saying Giannis. Now it’s Harden for SA and Giannis for Max.

If things went the way it should have and things go the way it should, Harden would be a 4-time MVP going into the 2019/2020 season.

Don’t think Giannis has a more visually appealing game than harden for those that say harden is boring to watch. What harden does takes more skill and a higher b-ball iq. Giannis just powers his way to dunks through awesome basketball genes. Much less creativity and IQ needed. He gets a lot of dunks on his long strides, but they are a far cry from prime Shawn Kemp’s dunks in how they look.

He’s amazing at what he does but shouldnt get a pass for not having a jump shot at all, in a league where that seems to be the bare minimum for a non center player.

I don't go to Clutchfans to watch ESPN, that's why I have a TV.
