It's my understanding that the special prosecutor was appointed by Rosenstein because of the Comey firing. Sessions had already recused himself, so it was up to Rosenstein.

Somebody correct me, but isn't it that simple?

You guys remember the first reason given for the firing of Comey was that he was too harsh on Hillary? smh.

In hindsight, why the hell did Trump fire Comey?

Do you have no faith in the Horowitz IG report? This is pretty much specifically what he investigated.

    https://oig.justice.gov/press/2018/2018-03-28b.pdf

It's also a mandated oversight of Congress. The Republicans control the Senate and have investigative powers. Do you not trust that Richard Burr has been doing a good enough job?

Correct questions. Why did Mueller choose not to make a traditional prosecutional decision on the question of obstruction? Isn't that was expected of him? Was it because he preferred to kick that to congress to handle? Or to the attorney general (which seems to be what barr did anyway)? Hoping the full report answers that question... or perhaps barr and Mueller will if they are asked to testify. But that seems to be a key question left unanswered.

Neither the OIG nor congress have any prosecutional powers. I would like to see someone who does take the lead in the investigation. Anything already uncovered by congress or the OIG should be taken into consideration. Personally, I would like to see another special counsel appointed to investigate this fiasco.

lol, Nixon was not impeached. The author of that tweet is clueless.

Note: Nixon resigned before he would have been almost definitely impeached.

Heh, gotcha aside, his question is valid... it was the basis of the impeachment charges for both.

I would too. We should investigate the investigation. Then we should appoint another special counsel to investigate the investigation of the investigation... But by no means should we stop there. That investigation will need to be investigated not once but twice because it makes no sense that they will do such an underhanded thing, and you know that they will when they investigate the investigation of the investigation.

We can take whatever their conclusion is with a grain of salt but then that grain of salt will need to have a special counsel investigation which will then need to be investigated.

revisionist history by the ignorant one !

why did tricky dick resign ?

the House voted to impeach Nixon; before the Senate was to vote on it, the Senate's leading Rep went to the WH ask Tricky Dick to resign
cos there was not enough Republican vote (not even close) to support the POTUS.

Tricky Dick may be a crook, but he was not stupid, he heeded Goldwater's advise to resign

Sarcasm aside, it appears you obviously have no issues that laws were likely broken. You also appear to not take possible FISA abuses very seriously as long as it was against the guy you do not like.

I guess you need a history lesson. You should be ashamed to post such ignorance.

btw, I don't know the author of the tweet, but suspect he would chuckle at someone considering him "clueless"...PHD in history from John Hopkins, professor of history and public affairs at Princeton. Has written numerous books on political history. Fellowships from Brookings. We should all be so clueless...

I have seen zero evidence of FISA abuses. There have been claims about abuses which have been shown to be off-base and inaccurate.

There may have been laws broken but it wasn't done in the investigation of Trump and his Russian connections.
