Its not a good free agent class and it seems like the Texans feel that way based on giving the one year deals to the CB they have signed.
I wonder what excuses BoB defenders gonna have this next season when we have another mediocre season. Winning AFC south means jack sht if u cant compete in the playoffs.
Dude regular season success doesnt mean anything if u sht the bed repeatedly in playoffs. R u confident that BoB is the coach that will give us the best chance at a super bowl. Regular season games and playoffs game r DIFFERENT FKING ANIMALS, I don't fking care if he does well enough to win in a sht Division if he gets rountinely outcoached in the playoffs. If this doesnt GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL nothing will. U seem so fixaturated on regular season successes, it's quite sad. 42-38 = is pathetic. He coach in one of the weakest division and hes barely over .500.
you think the reason they been so conservative with their money is bc theyre planning on using the trade market for upgrades then use our remaining cap space for extensions of the newly acquired players?
The whole Swiss-army knife argument really only works if you can be above average across a few positions. It’s like Marwin. Different sport, I know. But if you play 3 reserve positions at a replacement level...I just don’t see a ton of value in a player like that. I’d rather get above average players at those positions instead of hodgepodging our roster together. Obviously he’ll have some value as an injury reserve guy, but we’re screwed if Webb sees the field on offense.in that sense, I don’t see how it’s a good signing. Obviously he’s cheap...but there’s a reason he’s cheap.
Tyreek Hill may get banned from the league. Clowney, while a knucklehead, is not a criminal. The Texans don't play that.
Thank you. People saying oh he can do many things blah blah blah but what is he really good at? Like REALLY good? These are the type of players BOB has constantly brought in on the oline as well. None of these guys are great at one position.
I remember when he had to come in at receiver later in the year. I think Hopkins was still having to tell him where to line up, what route to run, etc. No different than with a rookie.
Possibly. The drivers, I think, are three-fold: 1) it wasn't a terribly good class to begin with, and then it quickly escalated to a class that sure looks like it's being grossly overpaid; 2) I believe they want to maintain flexibility so that they can make moves throughout the season - many of these big spenders will be leveraged when a possible game-changer is made available (Patrick Peterson, for example); 3) their own free agents this year were fairly mild; the next two years, their classes are much deeper - and I'm sure they're thinking about Watson and when/how to lock him up long term. Also, they have.. 4 (?) of the top... is it 60? Picks in the draft - that is going to allow them to bring in presumably high-end talent on the cheap.
I'm confident Deshaun Watson gives us a chance. I'm fixated on generating a larger sample size in order to draw a more informed conclusion. One bad game - regardless of when it occurs - is not representative of where the team is. Watson had a terrible game; Hopkins was hurt; the Colts feasted on a festering weakness (defensive backfield). And, yes - BOB was outcoached. It was a bad game - singular. The first the Texans had had in nearly three months. Sucks, timing-wise - but I'm not going to let it color the rest of the season, which was, mostly, really encouraging. Did you see my note earlier? It's the only division last year with three teams that won at least 9 games. And, again, 42-38 is not "pathetic" - it's fine. He has a 4-12 mixed in there when his QB got hurt. 38-26 the other four years. He's made the playoffs 3 of his 5 years; the team had been to the playoffs twice in the previous 12 seasons. I supported his firing; I've called for him to expand his coaching staff and bring in outside (offensive) voices; I think he's a middle-of-the-road coach... You know what? This was never a discussion about Bill O'Brien - it was about the Texans' free agency. This is your petty burden; if you want to stamp your feet, shove your fingers in your ear and whine about Bill O'Brien: the floor is all yours...
Last season the texans didnt just had that one bad game like u described over the past few month. (3 months) We had plenty, we lost to the colts twice and lost a high stake game (better seeding) vs the eagles. Just bc a team is winning on the talents of the team doesnt mean the hc is "fine" or even solid. Having him handicaps the team and the hiring of the in-house offensive coordinator is a joke. One bad game - regardless of when it occurs - is not representative of where the team is. Ummm yea it does, if u win all the regular season and repeatedly sht the bed in playoffs, it's either A. U suck at high pressure situation or B. U got outcoached. We made 3 times to the playoffs, 2 times he got embarasserd and outcoached and the 3rd he still lost to the patriots. We still haven't won against the Patriots and the oline has been steadily decreasing under BoB.i get that u r satisfied with us maki playoffs since our franchise underperformed for so long, but we r literally wasting the prime of our players with this incompetent coach. And u r wrong, this thread isnt just about free agency, it's off season which includes hc discussion. No point talking about offseason improvement if u dont even bother getting rid of the main problem (hc and his system). 5 years is more than enough to gauge the ability of a hc. His timeout are sht, he too conservative with leads, hell the running it down the middle on 1st down forcing long ass conversions repeatedly is disgusting.

Everyone gotta one-up each other, be the richest. Antonio-->Raiders Odell--->Browns; "But the Raiders just gave him a new deal, I gotta get mine (even though I just got a brand new deal last offseason). And if Odell gets his, I gotta get mine! And now that Julio got his, I want mine! (I guess to be fair to Julio, he's wanted a new deal for a year or two now)
