Luxury Tax Giveth - James Harden Luxury Tax Taketh - anyone we could not sign this year Nice Historical perspective on how we the Houston Rockets fans got an MVP Rocket River
They picked Perkins and Ibaka over Harden because they didn't think 3 elite wing players would work longterm.
Durant, Westbrook, Harden >>>>>> Durant, Westbrook, Perkins, Ibaka The key is to think outside the box. Thunder organization did not think outside the box.

The only thing interesting is the comment from OP. LTS owns all. Safe to say, if we find anyone good via a draft pick, trade, or player development, we won't have enough cap space to keep him long-term.
He left something important out of his video. That trade led to them getting rid of Perkins anyway, trading Ibaka, and ultimately losing Durant. The seeds of why these later moves happened were already there. The very thing they tried to save they lost anyway. Additionally, they misjudged the repeater tax and the cap increase. Resigning Harden or anyone meant you had that asset and could have traded later to fix the problem. I am glad we never had to find out. In hindsight it is also doubtful Harden ever gets the chance there to become what he is now. Alls well that ends well. It is still the worst trade in history, lucky for us. It ended a dynasty before it began.
