That's not nothing. It's close to 5 million dollars guaranteed money, if I am not mistaken. Again, I'm not saying it's a stupid decision. Just that it's risky for a guy who needs a team to prove himself. Like I said earlier, we will know who is making a mistake a year or two down the road. Either way, according to justtxyank's article, the chances of him being a Rocket next season aren't very good. Let's hope that he will do great for us in our playoffs run this year.
I'd be surprised if he's not focused or playing his a** off for the rest of the season and playoffs. He's betting on himself and a good contract. Hope it works out for both parties.
That is nothing for an NBA player. You’re asking him to commit to the vet min for 3 years. Who wouldn’t want to bet on doing better if they were in House’s shoes? That contract offer would be a last option resort.
He is an NBA player hanging by his nails. He played a total of 51 games in almost 3 seasons. The Rockets are his best chance of becoming a real NBA player. He is still young enough to get a good contract after this one if he can prove that he is a rotation worthy guy. He won't be an NBA player if he doesn't play well the rest of the season. It might not be on the table for his last option resort after the season. I do believe he has potential. Heck, I argued against some of his haters that there were guys who bounced around for some years and eventually became solid NBA players. I don't blame him for wanting to get a better deal. And I don't blame the Rockets for not wanting to commit long term on him with more than the minimum. The only thing I didn't like was that we didn't convert him earlier during our injury-laden stretch. He could have helped.
This... If I were in his shoes, I'd do everything I could to stay in Houston, but I'm not giving up millions (or even 1 million) if I can get more somewhere else. People transfer states all day for a $10,000 raise, even if they love their home town... He's doing what's best for him.. You only get so many years to be an NBA player, you HAVE to maximize it...
this kid man....this KID. **** all the people criticizing him and also criticizing the people that have believed in him for the start. I keep reading that nobody is "hating" on him but just read this thread. Nobody is a "fanboy" we just know how well he complements this team and don't fault him for looking out for himself. He's a probably an average/good NBA player, but he's definitely a good/sometimes great rockets player because of his athleticism, ability to play within his role, create his own shot, and knock down the 3 when we need him to. All in all, Hope he kills it for us and we're able to retain him. I've been very hesitant to say this as I'm a full believe in jinxes, but we may have just found Trevor's replacement
hopefully he stays this way well into the playoffs and we will be so damn good. I'm scared of his shooting returning to the mean in a big way
Serious question. What's our record if House never goes down to the G-league? We might legit have the 1st seed.
We dropped 4-5 games by a hair we wouldn't have, the Nets, Lakers, and a couple of other ones that come to mind
Fake spin. The Rockets might lose him this offseason because he (might) want more money than they (might) be willing to pay versus other options. The playoffs aren't here yet and we're bashing the owner over the offseason... The war must continue.
House fits this team so well, and he gets WIDE open looks here, he might not be as effective in another situation, but to me he is emulating Harden on some things, he might be the next Gilbert Arenas - a star player who came out of nowhere. DD
they should have locked him up before it came to this. Now he will DEFINITELY command more than ol cheapskate is willing to pay. How cheap do you have to be to only offer minimum money to a guy producing this much ? seriously. you have to pay for quality players. if he would have worked out a deal earlier it wouldve been a lot cheaper. i bet he wouldve signed for just a few mil a year before... now his offers are going to be much higher than that. we are going to lose a really good player that could help us for years to come because he is fukkin CHEAP
