Tillman call’s Houston home, but his thoughts/ambitions are elsewhere. Leslie Alexander called New York home, but his thoughts/ambitions were here. Why do you think he was able to sell the team for 2+ billion dollars?

Ok but Les was real big in NYC real estate and all his businesses were in New York. He would fly into Houston A few times a year though.

Isn't he kind of busy going after the presidency or something? And it's not like he's a mega-billionaire.

I completely understand what you’re saying, but until Tillman gives me a championship, I don’t want to comment any further on the Rockets ownership

The Tilman hate is irrational and a bit out of control, in my opinion.

He avoided the luxury tax this year... Les Alexander did (or attempted to) every bleepin season. If you can't acquire a big star, I think it's a wise course of action. We'll see what is available and what he's willing to do in the future.

They attempted to use their leverage on Danuel House because they liked him enough to want him long term. They would have signed him some time ago if he had taken the minimum for 2-3 years. In my opinion, House had a nice stretch but he wanted a lot. It was only a few weeks before that when House was waived in order to be signed to the two-way deal.

Anybody could've picked him up. Nobody did.

I'm not trying to protect Tilman... time may tell a different story. But right now, I believe the Rockets are in better hands than they were with Les.

True and Yao and many other players. Tillman was born here and is a huge Homer at least and still lives here but he does probably fly into New York a few times a year for business.

we've been around this franchise long enough to witness our stars slow down, get injured, get unlucky with matchups, etc

tilman has also been around the rockets the past 25 years and seen all of this as well. that is what makes me question his commitment to winning it all. because he has to know that james harden going wilt in a season doesn't just fall from the sky. next season he might be injured. next season he might really look like his age 30 already. next season silver might go buck wild with a whole new line of harden rules v2.

so tilman's little story regarding worrying about the tax 3-4 seasons from now, i'm sorry but that is BS. if he isn't trying to compete this season, we are all fools to believe he really intends to go all in when harden and paul are deep into their 30's. right now our 2 biggest rivals in the west this year (GS & OKC) have about $25M more in payroll than we do. that extra salary/depth is no guarantee of success for sure. but when the difference between advancing and going home is as minute as a chilcutt sub in for an injured herrera or two chucky brown FT's to win game 5 at UTA -- you scratch claw pray and pay just to have an even 1% better chance of maybe getting that ring

I’ll say this, Tilman has a track record of spending money. He has been incredibly generous with the University of Houston athletic department. He has repeatedly given money and time and influence.

Further Tilman loves the city of Houston, and really wanted to own the Rockets. He almost got them when Les out bid him. He had repeatedly stated he regretted not upping his offer. Last Tilman wants to be loved by the fans in Houston. His public perception matters to him.

I’m not happy that Tilman wouldn’t bite the bullet and go into repeater territory with this group and Harden. I think the Knight deal was bad. Having said that, I don’t think Les ever paid the luxury tax once. Tilman will at least do that.

I’m a little surprised to hear Clutch say he thinks the Rockets are in a better spot with Tilman over Les. However, Tilman has a lot more money, is younger, has a strong connection to Houston and is a fan.

How is Les's net worth $2.2B when he just sold the Rockets for $2.2B? He made a ton of money in real estate, his portfolio has done very well, and he bought the team for $85M, and it wasnt like he put all of his money into it at the time. Not sure the math adds up since I can't imagine him having a ton of debt on a team he bought 20+ years ago. If your source is google or one of those celebrity net worth sites, just know they are fake and just want clicks because they have ads all over them.

Schultz was probably the worst (and dumbest) owner in NBA history.
