On the bright side, if Gaine fields a shitty team this year, we may finally rid ourselves of butt chin. Or maybe that was Gaines masterplan the whole time?
It is definitely a better crop. No idea if rolling it over was the plan all along but this years FA class was considered very weak from the start. Also the main reason teams are overinflating the value of relatively mediocre/above average players.
He'll be 34 in May. After his "prove-it year", not sure how many teams (next year) will pay a 35-year old WR. He did have an "OK" year last year (63/739/3)
Not in their plans. They will more likely look for a younger or drafted player for wr depth. Keep eyes on the trade market. Ive heard they arent turning calls away for Clowney, whatever that means. I doubt they trade him but i think they be tempted by the deal that got mack. Otherwise, from here its only going to be guys that have been surprise cuts, backups, rookies, maybe a trade. Bare in mind, Gaine is from the Parcels tree. He wants picks. Quantity
He's been right since Day 1. @Whenitsover called this like a month ago, even going so far as to say we'd be debating our inactivity in FA all off-season.
A team with capspace that sheds top talent in their prime will have to overpay for talent that is older. Top talent like Clowney does not come cheap if they are available at all. They should be adding talent, not shedding it at this point.
Matt Kalil was the Xavier Sua-Filo of the Panthers. At this point, all he's got is a name that people recognize. Nothing more.
