what may be happening: "Consider this. Sandmann’s lawsuit was filed on February 19, 2019. The Post’s editor’s note was published on March 1, ten days later. "What the Post is doing here may be governed by the possible application of this Kentucky statute to the case. Under the statute, a newspaper can mitigate defamation damages if it publishes 'a fair summary' of plaintiff’s statement of the facts following a demand made 10 days prior to commencement of the lawsuit. My guess is that the Post didn’t want to take a chance it might lose the benefit of the statute in this case." https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/03/ms-post-reassesses.php
CNN to be sued for more than $250M over 'vicious' and 'direct attacks' on Covington High student: lawyer https://www.foxnews.com/us/cnn-to-b...rect-attacks-on-covington-high-student-lawyer
I find it hilarious that FoxNews is leading the story about someone sueing CNN for.... reporting on a story that later turns out to have more contextual facts?? FoxNews people... if we can sue news orgs, violating protected first amendment protections be damned, what the hell does that say we should be doing with FoxNews?? There are two Congress women whose lives are threatened daily because of FoxNews’ continued 24/7 coverage of them. Seth Rich’s family says hello too. Something tells me these kids parents are either so well off they can sink a ton of money into a losing PR only lawsuit for no reason but politics, or that the GOP is likely finding some back channel to fund this litigation. Because we all know here how much Trumplicans love this story. Zero substance. Victimization. Racism. Reverse Racism. Dominates the news cycle. And keeps people from talking about sh$& that actually matters in real life.
As funny as the “so you’re saying there a chance” line is.... dude...not sure why you don’t get this but it doesn’t fit the comedic response you are trying to go for. I understand you want to slam whataboutism.. but this gif and original saying has nothing to do with whataboutism and everything to do with naively hoping for a miracle. It’s lazy and you can be more funny with better gifs given the scenario. “So you’re saying there’s a chance” doesn’t work for anything and everything .... Try harder.
well, I guess it's a little like James Harden responding to people who complain about his foul shots. If you don't like his foul shots, don't foul him!
https://www.yahoo.com/news/cnn-hit-...suit-kentucky-student-040536231--finance.html I wonder how much these news outlets are gonna pay to make this go away.
These frivolous lawsuits won't go very far. They have to prove that the reporting was intentionally untrue, and then they have to prove damage was done - in his case since he is in high school that's not going to be easy. He could claim emotional distress to try to scam some money out of the situation, but that's unlikely. They will probably get a $100K to make the kid go away.
Oh they will settle for sure because all it took was the slightest bit of journalism to find out the facts which CNN goes to great lengths not to tell.
