I'd be fine if they went o-line with 2 of the top 3 picks. It's a much bigger priority that CB. If you can't keep your franchise QB upright and healthy, it doesn't matter how good your secondary is. You can at least try to scheme around a mediocre secondary.
Good start, bad finish. My mock, atm, would be: #1) Andre Dillard or Dalton Risner (OT) #2) Justin Layne, David Long(CB) #3 Michael Deiter or Benschawel(OT/OG) #5)Juan Thornhill(S) #6) Khalen Saunders(DT) #7) Tyler Johnson(WR) Everything we need and more.
But even with that you’re still subjecting you’re franchise QB tonmore wear and tear. Ultimately we’ll go as far as DW takes us. One would think priority one in year 3 would be to simplify that as much as possible for him.
I dont think this will be the case. My guess is all three will be gone along with Dillard and possibly Risner. It will be in our best interest to trade back if possible. This is a deep draft but there is not much difference between the 20th best player and the 50th best player this year. I think the texans very well could target a d tackle with their first pick as well if there is a run on tackles and corners like i expect. They will not be aggressive and move up this year. Sorry.
Greedy will be long gone by pick 23. His traits are going to get him in the top 20 easily. I think they may have a decision between baker, little, and an outside shot at risner. Given all three on the board, i try to trade back. A guy like mcgary in rd 2 or julien love would be as good a pick as any of those guys in rd 1. They need more picks. They need more shots at hitting on guys instead of just getting 7 or 8 picks. You build depth with a decent draft history coupled with about 10 picks in a given draft. Hit a few singles, maybe a homerun here or there and sprinkle in a double. But this team needs depth players that can contribute.
