So, let's walk through this claim by CNN, that Smollett's 'race card' is about to be declined. First of all, Smollet is carrying more than just a 'race card'. He also has the card of celebrity privilege, wealth and the power that comes with that. He also is an outspoken out of the closet homosexual. And lastly, he has been an aggressive public hater of Donald Trump and anyone who supports him. Let's not forget, his actual crime here was conspiring to perpetuate a racist hate crime against Trump and Trump supporters. Rest assured that Democrat leftists have no problem with lies and smears like this being used to cause great harm and suffering of Trump or his supporters. What they have a problem with is that this was done so clumsily and so selfishly that this effort will likely make future such efforts more difficult and less effective and also less credible. What they have a problem with here is not that he lied and tried to smear Trump and half of the American public, it is that he got caught doing it. So, it is not just the melanin concentrations in his skin that Smollett is banking on here for power and preferential treatment. He is banking on the people who lean heavily on this sort of thinking and these sorts of tactics for their political and social power to realize that they cannot allow him to be sacrificed here, because that is a huge loss not only for Smollett, but for the entire Democrat left "Identity politics" and "Political correctness" agenda and its credibility and power as well. As far as Smollett being held accountable in a meaningful way for his crimes against our society and its people, I will believe it when I see it.
16 felonies? I think what he did was wrong as much as the next guy but that seems a bit much. Our criminal justice system has a real problem with overcharging people for crimes. You should not be at risk of serving 16+ years in federal prison for staging a fake hate crime.

Ok good. While I think what he did was terrible, at the same time, I would hate to see the man get too stern a sentence. I feel like the American Justice system has probably given a few too many of those sentences.

Jussie Smollett won't be prosecuted on charges he faked attack I told you guys this would happen here in this thread and I believe I repeated it a number of times. Jussie Smollett is a Hollywood celebrity who also checks a number of other boxes on the Democrat left's "Identity politics" hierarchy of 'social justice'. The Democrat left has corrupted our system of justice and it can no longer be trusted to adjudicate matters based on whether the accused's conduct violates the law, but instead preferential treatment is openly granted based on the person's politics, their celebrity status, their sexual practices and of course the color of their skin. If anyone here had any doubts about this shocking truth, the dismissal of these charges against Smollett should go a long way towards clearing up your confusion on this point. With the Democrat left, we are no longer a nation of laws, we are a nation based on personalities and political preference.
