Lion Airlines that crashed Oct 29 was Boeing 737 MAX, 12 minutes after takeoff. There is controversy regarding its flight control system.

Another Boeing 737 just crashed, just 6 minutes after takeoff, Ethiopian Airlines with 157 Onboard. It was the same new 727 MAX delivered just 4 months ago.

    RIP.

If its the flight control system at fault again, then time to ground these planes, and fix the issue.

    Weather was clear.

Initial vertical speed data. Similar to Lion Air.

I like how they say there is no reason for concern when two brand new planes with experienced pilots crashed under similar circustances 6 months apart. I don't care if there was a political motivation behind China's decision to ground this model, it's the best for the citizens at this point. I am definitely going to check if the plane I will flying in is this from now on and avoid it.

Can check which airlines have them and how they're handling it as of now:
    https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/11/africa/max-8-operations-roundup-intl/index.html

    Interesting parts of the article...
    ---

    American Airlines
The US carrier has 24 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its fleet and says it has no plans to ground them at the moment.
In a statement, American Airlines expressed its condolences to the families of those killed, and said it would continue to monitor the investigation into the crash. "At this time there are no facts on the cause of the accident other than news reports," read the statement. "We have full confidence in the aircraft and our crew members, who are the best and most experienced in the industry."

    Southwest Airlines
The US carrier has 34 of the aircraft in its fleet and says it does not plan to change its operational policies or procedures.
"We remain confident in the safety and airworthiness of our fleet of more than 750 Boeing aircraft," read a statement from the airline.
    ...
    WestJet
Canadian airline WestJet says it has 13 MAX 8 aircraft and a total of 121 Boeing 737s in its fleet.
"We are monitoring the situation closely and will not speculate on the cause of the incident," the airline said in a statement. "WestJet remains confident in the safety of our Boeing 737 fleet including our 13 MAX-8 aircraft first introduced in 2017."

There is an automation/software issue in these MAX planes and Boeing needs to address it ASAP.

If two planes crashed in a span of months in similar situations (Clear skies, shortly after takeoff, sensor malfunction, plane thinks stall and starts diving nose down while the pilots fight it unsuccessfully), chances are there will be more of these kind of crashes without a fix.

Both of these planes went nose down in horrifying crashes.

737 has been very reliable for decades, but these new MAX ones are killing its reputation.

The good news is that China and Indonesia have grounded all Boeing 737 Max8 planes. Hope many more countries follow.

Very sad. When early broadcasts said it was believed there might be survivors, I was like, "why"??

a low rate indonesian airline and ethiopias best airline have had accidents. When an american line goes down you can instantly blame the plane. It's rarely ever the planes fault.

Yes, in Europe for anyone interested it's Ryanair, TUI, AirItalia, Norwegian, LOT and Turkish Airlines.

I read that now also South Korea, Mongolia and South Africa has ordered them grounded.

You are welcome to sacrifise yourself as the lab rat for Boeing.
The whole aviation industry is based on this anyway. First planes crash and people die and THEN they understand what's wrong and fix the problems.
    So thanx for your contribution!

I know I didn't have quite as much anger, spelling errors and insults, but the fact is pilot error is overwhelmingly the reason most people die in aviation. Despite your thorough explanation of the FFA certification of airworthiness process, I will gladly and regularly do take my chances on a boeing.

    What?
Native english speaker or not..you don't make sense. Spelling errors and insults (what insults?) put in the same sentence with aviation deaths? WHAT?
    o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Anyway, thanx again for volunteering yourself for the rest of us who value our lives too much to just be a statistic for the profit of Boeing.
And if you find any spelling errors or whatnot in my post, please contribute also by indicating them to me since I'm always open to improving my english.

Flew on one of these planes twice in the last week and a half with Aeromexico. It’s an eery feeling knowing that I flew one of only three routes they use it on (Mexico City - Lima) just before this crash.

what legal actions can be taken against boeing? seems like they knew and purposely put people's lives at risk for the sake of profit
