This is excellent from Kevin Arnovitz. Can you imagine the state of confusion an owner must live in if she looks at her team that is 156-320 over its past six seasons, one blessed with all of those assets, and concludes that the leading cause for concern is the information swirling on the outside? Despite its falsehood, the statement actually reveals so much about one of the Lakers' true shortcomings. They're so devoid of self-reflection that they can't see something that's abundantly obvious to anyone paying attention: The Lakers are so infatuated with the glory of their brand that they forget about the essence of their product.
The Lakers will be stuck in mediocrity for the rest of Lebron's contract unless some other superstar or two signs in LA in the summer. And quite frankly, I don't know if other stars are willing to do that anymore. As far as business, they will sell ton of tickets and will always be a conversation in the media. So it all depends on what's important. If it's winning, then ya they might have to trade Lebron but no GM or organization is going to do the unthinkable.

He had me at: Staples Center is still an exceedingly pleasant place to watch a game....the classy, minimalist production devoid of all the canned noise and obnoxious stunts that plague so many NBA arenas. What a crazy concept.
Honestly, trading Lebron to Celtics would do him a huge favor in terms of winning chips. The East is significantly easier to deal with than the West so that already ups Lebron's career going forward, and that Celtics team is fully decked. Doing a 3-way trade for Tatum + fillers for AD and flipping him straight-up for Lebron and some fillers, Celtics would be the immediate favorites to win EC Finals. I think the point is, LBJ already thinks he's the GOAT (on which there is no consensus yet), and he doesn't care for that. Not even for the Lakers. I'm happy w/ him damaging his legacy by staying a Laker.
