I don't like it. He's thin enough. Going through the playoffs will make him lose five pounds itself. He risks getting run down. Keep the weight on.

Playing 82 games burns enough calories already. He doesn't need to cut weight at the end of the season.

(I do a lot of trail running in the desert: it's easy to get debilitated by losing weight when you are already fit. Some of that weight loss is muscle. Your body's going to give up muscle before it gives up its last ounces of fat.)

Agreed but at this point you have to trust the athlete knows his body. We hear all this crap all the time about Harden being thicc and out of shape and then see pictures of him shredded. Because of his body type people assume he is fat and comment that he is not athletic. To all of those people its like come on this is a pile of ****. Harden is a world class athlete that just doesn't use his athleticism as a crutch to his game like LBJ's bully ball moves.

I think Harden is at that last stage of his development body wise. He has been mastering his performance spurts wherein the past he took plays off defensively to be able to be around at the end of quarters and especially the end of the game where he has to play both ends every play. With all of these extra workouts he has been able to quantify how that conditioning affects his shot at the end of games and his stamina.

Training like a champion means to only wear one sock and no shoes?

the thing is, the rockets are going to want to play harden off the ball more in the playoffs and have CP3 run the offense. Then harden will go ISO in the 4th. For off ball the weight loss is good. for iso you want the weight. But a legit arguement can be made that the loss of weight will give him more energy later in games.

Not really. But if I see a post from anyone that is interesting I will post it to share with the community of Rockets fans to be informed or enjoy.

I've lost 7 pounds in 90 minutes doing Bikram yoga. All water. Don't sweat the numbers too much.

    (A pint's a pound, the world around!)

I would say less weight would provide longer longevity with joints and ligaments along with improving endurance.

Harden degidefini can have a lower body fat percentage. The greatest sgs of all time have lower bf% than Harden(Kobe, Jordan and Wade).

Kobe even explicitly stated that a large part of his longevity was attributed to how lean he kept his body.

Totally totally agree that in life and aging, less weight is absolutely better.
But in the time frame of one or a few weeks, longevity is not a concern. Cut that weight in the offseason! In the short term you just lose strength.

That is true. Maybe why he gave a very conservative number with 5 lbs.

It really depends on how his diet was during the season. If he cleans his diet up, he might lose fat without losing muscle mass.

Atleast give credits. For example when someone writes a research paper they always write the sources which they get it from.

It's very hard for me to believe that Harden is being hampered right now by excess weight.
Does anyone here believe Harden is dragging extra weight right now?

Well if he could take the weight of the team off his shoulders he would be at his preferred weight! He probably weighs a ton carrying everyone.

I just want him to stay away from the clubs, women, booze, weed, and CP3's kitchen during the playoffs. No more looking stoned or hung over during a championship run. Seriously, and don't give me the "helps him relax" crap.
