I love Long and wouldn't have any issues with picking him at 23. If Greedy's there and Dillard/Williams aren't he's the pick. IMHO

I think the 1st would be too early for Long. Maybe in the 2nd but most likely in the 3rd. My dream scenario would be to get our 2 linemen, Layne and Long in the first 3 rounds.

If we can't land the CB/OL we need at 23, I wouldn't mind trading our 1st in conjunction to landing that type of player.

Layne may fall, but I dont think Long will be there at 54-55.

    Draftniks are sleeping on him.

Keep seeing Greedy Williams fall to us at 23. Scouts saying his weight is a problem, being that he’s 175, even though he’s really talented. Sounds like Kevin Johnson. I’m sure he’s better than KJ though.

Funny how most of us weren’t even talking about Greedy since he was a consensus top 10 pick. Since then he hasn’t done anything but run a blazing 4.37 forty and yet I’m talking myself into being “okay” if we got him.

If Greedy's there at 23 pick him and thank your lucky stars.

If the Texans get really lucky the first two rds of the draft will look something like this.

    Rd,1 Greedy
Rd. 2 David Long CB Michigan
    Rd. 2 Little or Cajuste

I remember ppl after the draft in 2016 saying we should tank the next year for 1st overall pick so we could get Deshaun Watson. Then had to be convinced he was a good pick at 12.

How good right now do you think Watson is and how good do you think he can become?

I think right now he’s the best qb we have ever had. I think if he fixes a couple issues with holding the ball looking only for the big play and picking up defensive blitzes he could be one of the best in the game..

    Agreed

Where would you rank him right now?

I think his future is greatness if they will invest in the OL to protect him.

I can see Brian gaine wanting to trade back and get more picks and I don’t mind that either as long as we get players that can contribute

Wonder who they consider the "Big 3.” If Taylor, Dillard, Ford, and Williams are all gone, wouldn’t be opposed to moving back and targeting Risner or one of the top CBs with our first pick (depending how far we move back). Think one or more of Little, Cajuste, McGary, McCoy will be available in the 2nd.

trade back? You are virtually guaranteed 3 starters with the picks we've got. That's really about all the youth you can absorb. I doubt you would ever have two rookie corners starting. And you still have 70 million for FA's.

    win now.

If they trade back, they clearly don't have a "win now" mentality... No way we shouldn't come out this draft with 2 definite starters and some depth... And this isn't including FA..

They can't both trade back in the draft and be inactive in FA, as 2 purported insiders have suggested recently.

Oh, they very well could do both and it is the most likely direction they are looking into. They are looking for depth, more picks from a trade back can help in a draft that is not top heavy. And similarly to last offseason, they arent looking to overpay anyone else's free agents. They will wait through the first most expensive wave at least as far as large contracts go. They may sign someone early but it wont be a big name. They will try to bargain hunt like last offseason. Its not exciting I understand, and not entirely the strategy I would adopt, but is most likely to be the direction they are looking to go down.
