Sooo it’s fakenews that Democrats ... like a Democrat? Take a bunch of Trump voters and ask them if they like Ben Shapiro or some other right winger... propaganda!! The big thing with AOC is how her profile has been raised. There are dozens of new Dems in Congress but why is it AOC has the recognition that she has? It isn’t because of CNN that’s for sure. Maybe.... just maybe... it’s because half of Fox’s coverage and every other tweet/fb post from wingers are about AOC, and that attention and obsession is what made even casual Dem voters say to themselves that maybe they should check out this crazy kid everyone is obsessed about. Then when you actually hear what she has to say and start to follow her... she kinda makes a ton of sense most of the time. I speak from experience myself. I would have never followed her if it wasn’t for guys like you constantly bringing her to my attention.

Why do I care about a WSJ opinion piece? And it’s not just AOC in the party that is raising concerns about how they handle the rebuke of Omar. There’s a real conversation to be had about giving Israel’s political leaders immunity from scrutiny over policy for fear of being labeled anti Semitic. Yes... Omar might or might not be anti Semitic. Of course that’s not a good thing for the party and I’m sure it’s talked about with Dem leadership to make sure she doesn’t become a problem. There’s also a ton of Trumpers in office like Steve King who also have shared views that are racist and anti Semitic over the years. But... when they are making their thoughts known about Israel from a policy standpoint, there has to be room there to have a healthy debate. The Republicans would want that right with Steve King so there’s no reason for the Dems to play themselves into a double standard situation. AOC is hardly the only Dem that feels this way. If AOC held all the power in Congress the GND would have already passed and allowed Mitch McConnell to vote it down in the Senate. I also think this “showdown” is manufactured foxnews drama. I doubt it’s like the Trump west wing where they all get shouted at and call each other f-ing morons.
To be fair, AOC is one of New York's reps. So, aside from the NY Post's populist bent, she is also a particularly relevant subject for them because she's local.
True, and since she represents one of the main boroughs she will get more attention and coverage. I guess the question is... how disproportionately does she get coverage than the other NY representatives. And the tone of the coverage... I suspect the Post will report everything with a negative slant. I wonder if the same sort of "count" has been made on fox news? Mind you, I think AOC revels in the coverage and is controversial, so not dissing the media from covering her.
I'm not a right winger. I just don't buy CNN, or FOX news, or other corporate news. I take it with a healthy grain of salt. The same way people used to commonly say don't trust what you read in the newspapers. Somehow saying that about broadcast news, which is even worse than newspapers, makes you a demon. If you trust them at this point, you're not even seeing that they routinely spin crap and collude with the DNC specifically. These are corporate entities that do not care about the journalistic ethics they routinely espouse for trust points with the gullible fools who love the idea of a news outlet fighting for their audience. They have golden calves and biases, and are not above planning their pieces down to out write scripting, colluding by providing questions, and planting DNC operatives at Bernie's speech to grill him and try to take him out early. Don't worry, I am not some right winger who goes and trusts Fox. You have to be media literate and know what you are absorbing and where it is from and why it is or isn't credible. CNN has routinely violated the basic ethics and tenants of good journalism, as have all major outlets on TV. They are entertainment channels at this point that sell catheters and life insurance. It is dying and in the process to compete with the Internet simply sensationalizing and going with bias to appeal to a base that it thinks its can profit best by catering to. Actually they copied FOX news which was able to do this with the idiot neocon right during the Bush era.
