He was arrogant af and was a horrible teammate.

Joining the ranks of Lebron, MJ, kobe, Shaq, a young Hakeem, Bird etc.

There's a reason they say nice guys finish last, sadly.

Yup. Garnett should probably be added to that list -- he was certainly an &$$ -- and a very good player, but probably not a hall of famer like the others listed above.

How is keeping a collection sitting in a room inspiring to hundreds of thousands? It was his play that won those rings that was inspiring. And I think his selflessness in selling these things for charity is more inspiring than keeping them. Also, realizing that his things might serve a higher purpose by selling them might be a sign of higher intelligence than just collecting them.

Think of it like this, would a Picasso have greater impact selling for a couple of million and hiding on someone's wall or being an inspiration to millions in the national gallery of art for all to see. The idea is that he could put his rings on display so that Californians could make a pilgrimage to see them, pay a small fee for the cause, and become inspired by his achievements. and he can still make the 3 million using other avenues like his time and connections. Think his idea is good, it's honorable, but there are better ways to spread ideas and innovate, and he still has ownership over the rings if he wants.

    1 MVP
    1 Ring
    1 DPOY
    9X All NBA
    12X All Defense
    15X All Star
    9th in career Win Shares

Yeah sure, just a borderline HOFer.

Yeah I know I'm just saying almost everybody makes it in the HOF except for Rudy T and Phil Jackson because the voters hate them.

Heh. I knew I should have looked that up about Garnett.

Anyway, all this is to make the point that very often great players are jerks. One could get into a lot of psychology as to why, but I think at least it's because they demand so much of themselves, that when they see teammates not playing to the same level, they act like @44*&^%.

But, the case of Jabbar is even worse than that, so I have heard. Reportedly, he went out of his way to act jerk-like to almost everyone -- media, other players, etc. The fact that he has never held (and I don't think been offered) a head coaching position is revealing.

Well IMHO having a charity like the Sky Hook foundation more than outweighs all the "jerkiness" he had as a player lol.
