Word on the street is to expect a very similar offseason to last offseason. This regime is aiming to build through the draft and fill holes via free agency without handing out big contracts. They are not inclined at this time to pay what trent brown is going to ask and are likely not to pay what honey badger wants as well. The positions they may spend moderately on are corner and a safety that is a slight step down from badger, Amos has been mentioned although i dont see it. I personally think he is better than badger. Gaine views free agency as a way to fix roster holes but not at the expense of paying your own guys. Be prepared for them to move forward with Davenport and Henderson as the starters at tackle with a rookie to play swing and prepare for 2020 starting job. They will add an o line guy but it wont be a big name. Based on reports, i expect maybe 2 corners at less than colvins contract last offseason and then a rookie from the 1st 3 rounds. And do not be shocked if they go defensive line in rd 1 if the right guy falls to them. The depth at that position is ridiculous this year and they have already greased the skids in the media that they view the interior pass rush as a priority just like corner and o line. Believe what you want, i am not the end all be all. I hear a few things here and there and read between the lines on other things. Been wrong before, will be again. This is just the talk thats gone around the past week or so. Have a great day.

They also need a WR (Cant depend on Fuller) A penetrating NT, a RB, and a TE that can block wouldn't hurt a thing. Plus you can never have enough pass rushers.

March 11th teams can agree “in principle” to contracts.

I think this is just what's being said to throw people off. We have 70+mil, I'll be very upset if we finish FA with more than 20 of that. Would be an extreme waste and telling that this team does not care. Especially when another hard team in our division has 100+ mil and will be making changes. If the colts get Bell or a WR we are in trouble.

I want darby. We have the money, I think he's gonna come back fine. Then draft a speedy CB in first 2 rounds and give Joseph a break.

Its not just about cap space. Team philosophy and cash on hand play a much bigger role. Not every team has a Howie Roseman. We dont. The texans will pay big contracts but it will be to home grown players not players from other places. The Brock contract they are still dealing with the fallout from in terms pf team depth they could have qccrued through cap space used on that contract and draft picks traded to rid themselves of it. They are keenly aware of the contracts they are willing to dish out now to free agents and that will show once again this offseason. To be fair, I think this is the better way to build a team that is middle of the pack where the Texans realistically are at. Where i differ is when you feel like you are a true contender, then you do what the Rams did last offseason. I think the front office talks a big game but i think realistically they know deep down they are not true contenders yet. So unfortunately for some, I would not expect any big big contracts like bell or brown. Expect some familiar names as possible but it wont be for big numbers. Similar numbers to last season. And the are hopeful on Colvin being CB2, worst case CB3.
