That's how never heard before players get some recognition. Yes he got the chance to start as the mainstays were injured. And given the chance to show what he's capable of doing on the court, House played quite well. In fact he was fantastic. Not all star superlative, but surprisingly good . He was a great fit and he played with confidence. Well now, the starters are back and the Rockets have seen what DHouse can do when he's on the court. No he won't replace Harden or CP3 or Eric Gordon. But he will be great complement/role player/contributor to the team. The next step is obvious - sign DHouse.
Fit is really undervalued on this forum. He didnt have as much success elsewhere and was given an opportunity due to injury and fit in perfectly. Looking at what he can contribute vs. what he would get paid, there is tremendous value in cost vs. production.
What does any of that have to do with what I responded to? i want him signed as well and think he was offered a fair contract.
I don't think anywhere but Clutchfans is where someone who was called up from the G League is discussed like an all star starter. If he was that good, he wouldn't be back in the G League.
DHouse is so underrated in this thread. This dude is chill AF. He knows he's a role player. He has the right attitude and weapons to perfect his role every game. He has great chemistry with Jimmy from Day1. And veteran-like composure. Not a turnover prone player. He has everything the Rox need from a role/wing player. His only weakness is his agent.
Now that everyone's back and healthy, i would b fine to say he's overrated. House didn't save us from anything, we made it to the 3rd seed now w/o him. He would be nice depth, but not the savior he could have been.
he knows he's a role player, yet he turns down 1st round pick money for his first nba contract. gotcha. makes sense
If it was so obvious then he would be dominating the DLeague. I mean based on your logic a players who "played quite well, in fact fantastic and suprisingly good" should dominate in a MUCH lower difficulty league. Let's get that straight, Terrence Jones and Hartenstein who look like HOF players in the GLeague look like scrubs in the NBA. This is one thing the undying House supporters just can't explain, why are Hartenstein and Jones outplaying House in the GLeague if he was sooooo good? Where is all this fit and amazing confidence in the GLeague? Gerald Green GLeague stats back in 2011: 19.1 pts 4.6 rebs 1.6 assists 45% 3 pt Danuel House GLeague stats 2019: 20 pts 5 rebs 3.6 assist 32% 3 pt Keep in mind Gerald Green 8 years ago had extremely low bball IQ and couldn't do anything on the court in the NBA, he was getting Corey Brewer treatment in the NBA. Gerald Green back then is the level Danuel House is playing now in the GLeague and you think he would be amazing in the NBA? LOL!
RGV runs the same offense as Rockets do so if he really "fit" the Rockets system then he would also blossom in the GLeague. Sure there is no James Harden in the GLeague but the difficulty is also lower than in the NBA, guys like Hartenstein are dominating in the GLeague but they can't do the same in the NBA even if they play with James Harden. So if House really "fit" the Rockets as you claim then he would have outplayed Hartenstein who is averaging like 20 and 15 a night.
now that we are back up to 3rd seed, as george costanza once said house now has absolutely "no upper hand, no hand, no hand at all"
Anybody knows if House liked some random instagram post of Tatum/Kawhi hitting shots against us in these days?
Here is an easy way to tell if he is a fit, when your Franchise Player who you will pay over $280mm over his two contracts, someone with a very high basketball IQ,and MVP of the league says he needs you out there in a public venue and says you are a big piece of what they do, then you are a fit. Lol James cant even pronounce Hatensteins name.
that's really your logic for "an easy way to tell is he is a fit"? I mean harden signed off on melo. I wonder how that went. not exactly the best use of resources to support your claim there
Harden never in a public venue said that Melo was a big piece of what they do, and he never lobbied for him publicly, he never once said Melo was the reason they won a game? He went along with the signing because CP and Melo are friends, and likely saw it from the same prospective as DM, low risk, and he had nothing against it at the time. Not anywhere near being analogous.
what? harden publicly talked about melo plenty of times before he got here. do some more research. it wasn't just on cp's relationship. he was part of the recruitment and definitely wanted him here. you don't call someone a great acquisition and not be considered a big piece. harden just highlighted shump last night in his post game interview. does that tell you as much as you're trying to use the same logic with house
Where did he say Melo contributed to wins for the Rockets and where did he once say he is a big part of what they do? Exactly. He never once said once Melo is integrated we will be a better team. He defended Melo the player, his individual performances, he never once said Melo HAS contributed to the success of the team, he made the politically correct statement about Melo because he was being asked about Melo constantly from the media, of course he will give a politically corrrect statement. With House HE brings up his name, and he says that he has contributed and is a big piece of them winning games. Massive difference when he brings it up on his own, vs. answering questions from a media that is highly skeptical of is fit. Lol you can not possibly think this is the same thing. I'm not saying Harden has the ability to tell if a player WILL be a fit that has not played with them, I am saying being on the court he is smart enough to know what is actually working vs. what is not. He is not a GM, he is a basketball player. The only way you can possibly compare the two scenarios is if Harden asked for Carmelo to continue to be on the team after seeing him play.
who cares if he said if he contributed to wins. obviously he wouldn't say that bc the rockets were terrible when melo was here. lol at your house tunnel vision. I guess all of this doesn't mean once melo is integrated this team will be better. But yeah people wonder why threads like this House is overrated come about. You're a perfect example. *newsflash* Harden said House's name. He is extremely special. did he do it on his own? omg lol you don't call someone a great acquisition and not be considered a big piece. harden just highlighted shump last night in his post game interview. does that tell you as much as you're trying to use the same logic with house. If you're consistent then you think have to think Shump is just as important then
Bottom line is... We sign guys to 1 year deals all the time... GG, Rivers, Faried, etc... we aren't worried about them "using us as a springboard to get offers in the next off season..." We could have simply converted House and we could have used him to get through injuries and help provide additional support and defense the balance of this year - and he'd still have been a RFA in the off season... but Morey would rather try to use his leverage to try to tie up House for multiple years now - rather than see what his value would be in the off season... From a purely financial aspect - it makes perfect sense and is a shrewd play on Morey's part... ...but it isnt the best move for the team in the short term - and certainly isn't going 'all in' to win this year - which is the line that the FO is trying to sell the fans... and the possible ramifications related to the teams future relationship with House - and how it plays for future prospects with multiple options for a 2 way contract - remains yet to be seen.... Some posters seem to believe that the desire to convert House is based on the belief that he's such a great talent... that aint necessarily the case... Personally, i think House could have helped us over the last month or whatever - and could help for the balance of the year... but I dont think he's some phenomenal talent that we just have to tie up for multiple years now, because the potential to lose him to a better offer in the off season would be so crushing... Imo we should focus on trying everything possible to win this year - and worry about the off season when we get there... May seem shortsighted to some... but we're 'all in' this year - right?
Lol all of those quotes are after questions. Have you ever seen a press conference and then seen the related tweets? They only post the response, they don't post the full question, because a majority of the time they are baiting them and driving them towards a response that looks good in a story. Yes, a healthy Shump is more important than Melo? I'm not sure what your obsession is with melo, but get over it. He is not coming back, and he is not a better fit than House. If you really think that Melo is a better fit than House, then I dont know what to tell you.
