Not mad at all taking some losses before the tourney. Team getting grounded and going back to the drawing board will be helpful
I feel this way now, but I certainly didn't feel that way in the final minutes of that game!! It took years off my life, I'm sure.
Everything still looked great this week, missed some open shots, no big deal, but going into the tournament would: 1, Spend one week on wrapping the mindset around that fact that Armani Brooks has to be on the floor, and finding ways to get him shots in the pick and roll, and designed plays. You can just see he lifts the teams energy when he's scoring. He's never really has a bad game, he just can't seems to get open despite moving pretty well. Thought Sampson kept him on the bench way too long. He wasn't able to get open, but that's because he isn't forced into that leadership role. 2. Ask Robinson to get in the gym again and just shoot until his arms fall off. Same with Brady. I feel like over time both lost focus. Probably not enough practice time. Robinson having a good year, but the same thing is going to happen that happened last year, he needs to be ready. Brady has gone awol and we need him back. 3. Tell our guards to drive and try and score on the big men. They looked intimidated. But Taco had 0 blocks. zero. In fact, their whole team had 0 blocks. Zero.
#3 Seed in the West if they win out (assuming they all win out). The Pac12 has completely screwed up the bracketology, somebody has to get moved out West and also take a bunch of their spots in the 64 (I hope it's little guys like Wofford, Furman, etc...) Gonzaga TxTech Houston
gameday was a full on recruiting trip. They showed the new stadium and facilities, brought out the legends, showed the family atmosphere with the cookies. Lol. That was a huge puff piece totally orchestrated to draw recruits next year. I don't mind being strategic about it though. Used our time wisely.
True, it was. However, we already have an outstanding class coming in next year. Sampson is holding 2 scholarships open right now and we shall see who he gets.
Better that loss comes during the regular season than the conference or NCAA tournament. Blessing in disguise perhaps? FYI, I don't post here much but I'm reading every day and I've watched every game this year that was televised somewhere, even if it was on my iPhone. Always been a big UH basketball fan since the glory days. Still remember watching Akeem destroy Joe Klein and Jon Koncak on a regular basis, those 50 dunks during the Louisville game (still the best college basketball game I've ever seen) and literally crying myself to sleep after NC State. Didn't go to UH, but I'll always support Cougar basketball because of the great memories I have of watching Phi Slamma Jamma. Having UH back on the basketball map just feels......right. Like everything is back to the way it should be.
The build as coach calls it was way overdue. It looks like they might actually be able to sustain their success. The players are starting to fill in as seniors leave. Sampson is the key. I noticed your Bearcats are having a strong season in the Southland. I might go catch a tournament game in Katy. Maybe they can make some noise in March Madness.
Hopefully Fertitta won't let Sampson leave. Unlike football, UH can be a destination school. Any school that makes the tournament can win a NC. Yep, but I figured as soon as I started a thread about them, they would crash and burn. I was hoping to catch a few games in Katy, but I'll be out of town next week. Be nice to see us make it to March Madness instead of SFA for a change.
This was near perfect game, albeit against SMU. But Brady showed, Armani nearly got 15 shots up, and Robinson hit enough shots aside from the air ball to be respected. Davis remains consistent. That's the formula. Good show.
Brady and his typical early foul trouble. This has to be better if the coogs are going to make a deep run
