Playing this specific scenario out, by converting him so late in April would make him playoff eligible, and given 15 days after being called up he would be a RFA. Assuming House is a RFA, I'm starting to wonder what is the chance that we can re-sign Rivers, Faried, and House, let alone 2 of 3 those players...
Whats the long game here? Keep House's value down so he doesnt get a better offer in the off season and is forced to accept a lowball offer from us? As someone who has managed people for decades... I can tell ya, nothing makes for a better employee than someone who feels undervalued by mgmt and has to stay with your company due to a lack of better opportunities... as usual... Morey plays the leverage - with no grasp of the human component... I'm sure we'll be first choice for guys looking to sign a 2 way contract in the future... smh...
House I think will get 3 mill a year pretty easily. There's money out there this offseason. And 3mill on a guy who showed something isn't much. Those comparing him to Ennis and Green. Let's be honest he's a better defender and shot the 3 at a higher percentage. There's a dearth of well sized 3 & D wings in the NBA atm If House kept those stats he had this year. On teams competing for a playoff spot he would be in the rotation of Thunder Blazers Rockets Jazz Spurs Kings Bucks Sixers Pistons Hornets Heat My hot take is they sign him end of season to $17 000 to stay under the cap.
I really believe this had more to do with staying out of the tax than undervaluing House … They know they can convert him at any point and have him RFA next season maintaining the right of first refusal. The date they do this (convert or sign him) matters as to how much they can give him and their ability to stay under the tax …. Slim to none and slim just left the building …. I don't think you get Rivers for his Non Bird numbers. $2,272,136.4 He might want all or most of the T-MLE ($5.5m). I think MAYBE Faried takes the Non Bird number $2,435,355.6 as he seems to really like playing in this system / with Harden. House you can match up to the vet minimum $1,676,700 and anything above that you have to tap into the MLE for and if you use that on Rivers you don't have it to match House. Worse yet - if you use your MLE on any of the above , you aren't getting better , you are standing still.
Or maybe....just maybe.....House just isnt that good. Has that thought crossed your mind? How ridiculous is it House will get the MJ treatment and deter other 2 ways from signing with the team? 2 Way Draftee: Well here I am making 30k usd in the GLeague and my dream is to enter the NBA. Rox are offering to pay me 52x my wage, but nah. They did my idol Danuel "Jordan" House dirty so I'd rather stay here in the GLeague. Lol! House has to be the GOAT most overrated player in Clutchfans history. VSpan, DMo, Twill all have nothing on this guy.
I would venture to say 80% of all workers feel underpaid So he will test the market this summer Someone offers him 3 mill/ 3 years . . .and he feels that is a lowball offer then he gets to sit with the rockets one more year and be unrestricted next year isn't that right He bet on himself this year . . . . .one more won't matter I guess I know he is probably not happy but this is the sport he chose and the system is in place Agreements have to benefit both sides . . . Do you think he will throw games because he pissed or will he attempt to play the typical "Contract Year" ball? Rocket River
Why does every House detractor have to rely so heavily on straw man arguments - as if anybody is saying he's the an all-star or the GOAT or whatever...I doubt anybody has declared him to be more than an average player who has been proven to work well in our system... nobodys lobbying to give him a max contract... lol... I've been looking to convert the guy and give him a minimum contract for the balance of the year... if you think thats overrating... idk what to tell you... and the 2 way draftee was referencing a player that potentially had multiple options... If an undrafted player is drawing attention from multiple teams... and prob going to sign a 2 way contract... all things being equal, I'm betting his agent would push the 'other' option... but you just keep making your smug inane strawman arguments....
I dont think he'd try to hurt his value or anything like that - that would just be silly and counterproductive... lol but I think it may affect on a subconscience level or even play out like the dedication to a bacon and egg breakfast - regarding the difference between the chicken and the pig... the chicken is involved, but the pig is COMMITTED!
This is not a battle of wills this is a biz decision by both parties, expect the Rox to wait, as DHouse wants to be a RFA this year, so that is what will happen. DD
so you are just gonna ignore what we have done for Clark and Hartenstien or the fact that House actually got to play as a 2way player? those things are quite attractive to figure players as well.
This is super ironic. Everything anti-Morey at this point is a strawman. I laid out a pretty factual foundation for any debate about House's value on the last page. Hasn't been quoted by anyone in the anti-Morey camp. I'm not sure how complicated we need to make this though. This guy had earned less than $1M in a 3 year career, was undrafted and cut 5 times, put up identical stats with the Suns before and got no serious interest, signed a 2-way contract, and walked away from $4.2M. That's where we are. Any interpretation starts from there.
I agree with much of this but I don't think Rivers is a must sign I think you can get his production for the veteran minimum.
disagree. its very difficult to find a backup combo guard for this team, that is not only an actual rotational piece but is willing accept that role off the bench. A guy like rivers is extremely valuable bc he can be a capable fill in starter or a reliable piece off the bench. I'd rather not have the bobby brown's as the guys you rely on as backups to harden/cp3. veteran min guards are typically not playable on a nightly basis. its already hard enough to find backups guards, willing to come here knowing the ball is primarily going to be in the hands of harden/cp3
I'm not sure whether anyone disagrees about that, though. The question is how much you'd pay to get him when you already have those players, and whether Morey/Tilman or House/Agent takes more blame for him not accepting a $4.2M guaranteed contract after 3 years of 2-way contracts. Hence, lots of arguing.
We will just agree to disagree I think other veterans will see how he has flourished and would like to showcase themselves.
