I'm so pissed off at the changing criteria. James is having a HISTORIC season. Just like Curry and even more so than Westbrook in prior years. Now it goes BACK to 'best player on best team'? Simple question: Can Giannis carry a team like James? In the West? Without the 3 next best players out for long stretches? No. Can anyone? No. STFU with the obfuscation. Simply put, no player can do what James can. Overall. Don't give me the defense argument for PG -- or Giannis. Holistically - put him on any team, and James is the best player in the NBA, because he'll generate wins. The narrative needs to be that simple and consistent: who is most valuable to their team in winning the regular season. It boggles my mind how James is going to be denied yet another MVP because of inconsistent homerism and frankly, a lot of biased hate.
Zach Lowe questioning the first round pick for Shumpert. He has a fair point. That is something that could POSSIBLY be a missed opportunity. Shumpert’s contribution may prove to be disappointing. And whether it could have been used for something better kinda sticks with me. KEEP IN MIND. It is not crushing. Shumpert will be off the books, and we did unload Knight. We also don’t know what we could have gotten instead, or the money implications another player could have had. And I do believe whatever deal we thought we had that fell through left us scrambling and this was the best that we could do. So it is unfortunate, but it shouldn’t be on Morey. Iman is a veteran, has championship experience and is getting to play with Harden and Paul. If he disappoints, it’s on him.
I hope Shumpert is healthy for the playoffs, cause I want to believe he will be the xfactor for the rockets during the playoffs
I know I **** on the front office a lot. But I'm actually a big Morey fan. On my all time dude to grab a beer with list
1:10: "Why should Harden win MVP this year?" GM OF THE ROCKETS: "Have you seen our team.??" I know he was referring to injuries but I found it hilarious. Also: Paul Pierce - "based on the same criteria we use EVERY YEAR - best player on best team [BS] - it should be Giannis. Harden will be one of the best 2nd place players of all time."
I hope you’re right but I see him being insignificant. He won’t get out of hand. He’ll play the way he’s asked to play but, I’m not sure he’ll bring out his best in that role. A guy like Tucker can’t wait for his spot up threes and to switch defenders. Faried loves playing the pick and roll with Harden. Then again I don’t know a wing that was available that would have had that enthusiasm on this team. Not sure Bazemore would have flourished here either.
ADD: Lou Williams a couple years ago was such a great trade deadline pick up. Also I guess that’s what I miss about Ariza. He may have not liked the superstar treatment and whatever other things that were rumoured, but he still loved the way we play.
Love that he mentioned the Rockets media not having a MVP vote, but I think he could have defended Hardens case a little better. Like most have said, Harden lost an MVP trophy to Westbrook, becuse Westbrook did something historical, regardless of seed. The same should happen to Giannis, Yes you are very MVP worthy on most years, but Harden is doing something Historical. Keep it up, maybe next year Giannis....
To me I hope James gets messed over on the MVP just like Dream did with David Robinson. I just wish they could do it at the end of the regular season so that Harden can blitz everyone just like Dream did everyone especially Robinson
He somehow implied his Beard got something to do with the streak, he might shave it off. Conspiracy, it's still there?
Just to flesh that out. We got that excellent Williams pick up right after Magic took over the Lakers, said we just need to teach these young guys how to win, then dumped their productive players.
