First of all... she is a NY congresswoman, so I obviously didn't vote for her. Other than saying she is an interesting person I don't think you will find much more of a post that supports her or any of her policies. Since I am pretty moderate as "libtards" go... I focus more on politicians that reflect my own political positions. I have asked people to explain why GND is such a controversy and as of yet no one has done so.
I just checked out this thread and surprised to see you posting about Trump when the thread is about AOC. I think that is fair but please understand that just because a person is not wild about this new world where a rookie congresswoman becomes an overnight celebrity that the media covers 24/7 doesn't mean that person is also a Trump supporter? What kind of logic is that. People can easily dislike both Trump and AOC like me. I think both are ridiculous and I will say the media making an article about everything a rookie does is mind boggling. The parallel with Trump is that he is the President of the United States so of course any tweet, comment, etc. should be under a microscope in this day in age. The problem I have more is that the media, twitter, etc. give these people a much bigger platform than they really should have. I typically shy away from most politics, but we are dangerously close to electing people or progressing their careers strictly due to being a "celebrity". This has already happened with Trump and seems it will most likely continue no matter the political party. I just hope the Democrats and Republicans can have leaders that earn respect rather than be handed it because they "speak well", "are attractive", "are young", "are famous", etc. We all have to be better than this and elect leaders that inspire unity, cohesion, safety. I do have one thought about AOC. She doesn't want 25,000 new jobs for young professionals in her own city which is fine. I do wonder what she would say if Trump said, "I will allow 25,000 Mexicans in to the country illegally but they will be housed and fed in AOC's district". Do you think her and her supporters would say okay? I just see it as ironic that someone would be so possessive of their own district on something that is most likely neither good or bad (Amazon HQ in NY) but then expect our country to just freely accept immigrants in illegally. Seems like a motto of, "protect what is yours".

The Bronx is 30% foreign born, Queens is 40-50% foreign born - there are probably ~2 million immigrants. So what would she do if 25,000 moved to the Bronx and Queens? Probably the same damn thing she does every day because that is exactly how the city has operated for 100 years?
