Maybe Morey and Tilman conspired to force MDA to play this lineup, by giving him no other options. and to screw with Carl Herrera
Man imagine if Morey had Snagged someone like Tobias Harris ath the deadline. Our roster would be complete for a championship run with the Manimal enforcing it!
Key MDA comments: 1) “Really glad to see Faried and Clint can play together. That gave us a nice look.” 2) “He [Faried] can hit a 3, which is important for our spacing. But our rebounding’s been so bad. And he had 10 tonight. … So the rebounding got better. If that gets better, we run more, we got more transition hoops. It just all ties in. And if they can keep the spacing, which Faried can, he can drive to the basket—you know, that’s good.” 3) “The biggest thing was putting, PJ’s never played the 3 since he’s been in Houston. And, putting him there, we were anxious to see if that would work. And it did.” Full interview here:
Clint, Faried, Tucker, Harden, Paul, Gordon, Rivers, Shumpert, Green, Nene, (House) I mean, this is a pretty solid, balanced rotation with guys that can switch multiple positions. If we can just get House back I think we have a real shot (Not because House is some messiah, i think it just cleans up the rotation a little and gives us room for having one of these guys injured) My only thing is that I don't really believe in Faried's 3 pt shooting. However, the help on the glass is much needed and his energy is infectious, so I would not mind seeing him start. Also, one underrated thing about this club is our ability to get deflections/steals. Paul, Harden, Tucker, Shumpert, Rivers all have an uncanny ability to get deflections/steals and really change the momentum of games.
Commonsense will always prevail. When Clint and Faried set the double screen up top and immediately roll simultaneously towards the bucket it will give Harden and Paul the double option of the lob or the pick and roll pass now and a nightmarish scenario for the opposition bigs who will show hard and gamble on leaving there men. You have to pick you’re posison now on either showing hard on Harden or Paul and leaving you’re man open for the lob or staying on your man and giving Harden and Paul an easy driving lane. It just makes things so much easier. Not even going to mention how much more efficient the offense will become due to the extra possessions we will get because of the defensive rebounds we won’t concede anymore. Plus it gives us a super athletic look. I mean the last time was probably Greg Smith and a broken down Dwight when we looked this athletic upfront and Smith was a scrub so in no way he was in Faried league.
But if they bring back House, he'll boost up the bench. The Rockets will have a strong bench with House back. BRING BACK HOUSE!!!
Farieds shooting is a pleasant surprise - but idk if its sustainable... so I'd like PJ to start and then bring in Faried later and then slide PJ to the 3 - so Faried is on the floor when Harden sits... I think Farieds high energy is more valuable with the second unit when Harden sits and PJ's defense and spacing is more valuable when Harden is on the floor.... imo... 2nd unit needs to be Nene/Faried/CP3 and a couple shooters (GG/EGo?)...
Lol we had no shooting last 2 months from the 4 position....so you at least get the rebounds and he doesnt need to be able to shoot to provide spacing they cant leave him open because hes great at putting it on the deck and in 2 quick dribbles hes around the rim for high percentage shot
1 advantage that Kenneth and Capela together gives Harden is 2 bigs with speed. If you look closely at the CP to Capela Alley oop in the 4th quarter, you see Clint running and Klay is back. But then Kenneth turns on the speed and it forces Klay to hesitate just enough to open up the lob for Clint. That split second of indecision by Klay was caused by the speed and potential lob threats by both bigs. James is aggressive when he sees Clint or Kenneth down the floor. He will throw that lead pass to try and get a quick score. With Kenneth starting, I think we have the fastest 4/5 combination in the nba. As was mentioned in the article, if can rebound we can run. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Being able to rebound and get out in transition for easy buckets is an exciting possibility for me.
