    It makes Treasury department employees wary about improperly releasing Trump's financial reports. Just a little reminder that the penalties are real and that they are enforced.

    Then this person should be investigated, charged and tried. Just like anyone else.

    Not sure that tells us anything we didn't already know about Cohen's relationship with Trump.

    It tells us nothing about Trump and almost nothing about Cohen. But the charge has been filed against the analyst.

    As it should have been... but no doubt it will be used by trump and his supporters to defend trump. "Deep state" "IRS out to get trump"...

    In this case, to get Cohen. I am not clear on how the IRS has tried to "get Trump". I guess it could happen, but so far I cannot recall that occurring.

    From what i understand from the main poster in this thread, the likely scenario is that trump is "embarrassed".

    Somehow I am not too concerned nor surprised, coming from someone who hasn't worried about russian influence on the election or on trump, saying:
    http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2018/01/glenn-greenwald-russia-investigation.html?gtm=top&gtm=top

    Instead, I will wait to see what Mueller found (as well as Senate, House, and State investigations). I do like how trump's defenders move that bar around... from nothingburger, to "has to say the word collusion" to now "has to have an indictment for collusion"...

    There is a wide range of possibilities in Mueller's final report ... from no more charges to indictment of a sitting President.

    We will see.

    {Yawn}

    Ever hear the story of the boy who cried wolf? Well, that boy is a piker in this regard, compared to what we have seen over the last two years from CNN, The Washington post and the rest of the TDS afflicted Democrat left mass media.

    And now, here we go, yet again.

    The Trump Pardon game has to be an end game quid pro quo though. Trump allies have to know they are going to jail regardless at least till the end of his term or till the end of the Mueller report.

    Trump won't risk his neck for anyone, but yeah... he'll do it if he thinks it won't help him, or hurt him. He's way more likely to pardon Roger Stone for mass murder then he would Robert Gates for jay walking.... because pardoning Roger Stone riles up his base who loves Stone & thinks its a conspiracy.

    Manafort was dangled pardons to keep quiet, and obstruct, and he's still in jail now. He's been in jail for months now. Yet Joe Arpaio I don't think spent a night in jail. Because pardoning Joe Arpaio was a political calculation that he felt helped him.

    But its a good strategy for State Prosecutors to come out public about potential state charges to protect the integrity of the courts. Even though in this case its about 6 months too late for everyone. The states involved with Stone's case though.... they need to be getting out in front of Stone's charges because he will be getting a pardon because of the politics of it.

    As long as he denied it, Trump is good. But this specious logic only works for people Trump likes.
